The villa adjoins Villa Vizinha (also four bedrooms) and is next door to Quinta da Moleiro (five bedrooms) - ideal for a large party travelling together but requiring separate accommodation.

Approach

This pretty villa with its white-washed walls and shuttered windows is set in a quiet residential area above the picturesque village of Carvoeiro. You drive through a gated entrance up a paved driveway shaded by tall trees and past a decorative white wall with a pretty tiled mural. From the parking area you walk up to the front door and into the villa through the stable-style kitchen door.

Ground Floor

The living/dining room has a central open fireplace on the right-hand side. The sitting area has two large sofas, satellite TV and cushioned bench seating around the end wall. There are large patio doors opening onto the sunny terrace, flooding this room with light. This cool room is a nice place to retreat with a good book during the midday heat. To the left is an elegant dining area with one polished wood dining table and chairs for eight within a wide alcove.
The traditional-style fitted kitchen has two rows of wooden base and eye-level units and a grey granite worktop with integral double sink and oven. It is well-equipped with modern appliances including a microwave and dishwasher. Adjacent is a utility room with a washing machine, and a cloakroom with shower cubicle.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor as well as a family bathroom. The first has a double bed, bedside tables with small reading lamps and an en-suite bathroom. There are two rooms furnished with twin wooden-framed beds, which share a family bathroom, both have large windows overlooking the sunny gardens.

First Floor

A set of stairs take you to the first floor master bedroom which has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom and nice views over the pool and gardens. At the bottom of the stairs is a small gate, ensuring extra privacy and protecting inquisitive small children who might attempt the climb up.

Outside

Alto da Eira’s gardens have many mature trees and flowering shrubs. The large sun-filled terrace is paved in stone and bordered by white rendered walls and thick green hedges. To the back of the villa is a covered dining area with table and chairs, perfect for long, lazy lunches. The built-in barbecue sits beneath the shade of a beautiful mature bougainvillea; with clusters of bright purple flowers along leafy green branches.
To the side of the villa is the large private pool, with integral steps in one corner leading you gently into the water. The pool has two levels – a shallow half where the warmer water is safe for small children and a deeper, cooler half. Steps run down from the side of the pool terrace to the private badminton court below.
The children’s play area is found in the gardens to the front of the villa, near the gated entrance. Partially shaded by mature trees, the kids will enjoy zooming down the slide, and playing on the see-saw and swings.
For large parties, Alto da Eira adjoins Villa Vizinha and is also near to Quinta do Molerio.

Location

Alto da Eira adjoins Villa Vizinha and is set in a peaceful residential location, 1.5km above the beach of Carvoeiro. It has spacious accommodation and plenty of private outdoor space. This holiday villa is an ideal choice for large parties as there are two other great villas nearby (Vizinha and Quinta do Moleiro).

A 15-minute downhill stroll or short trip in the car will bring you to the small sandy beach of Praia do Carvoeiro, where there are water sports on offer in summer. Carvoeiro was once a quiet fishing village but has steadily grown throughout the years to incorporate the flourishing tourist trade. The streets are lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, and a stroll around the older streets of the town will take you to quaint shops selling local crafts and market stalls selling fresh local goods. Although now a bustling place in high season, the essence of the sleepy village still remains in the local fisherman who sail the seas and bring home their catches, sorting them in the harbour.

• ZooMarine – an ocean theme park set amongst lakes and gardens with exhibitions, shows and rides to entertain the whole family. Has a large range of marine animals from sea lions and dolphins to turtles and exotic birds. Approx 20km away.
