Beach House is on a development of four townhouses that is right in the heart of Praia da Luz, only a couple of minutes walk from the splendid Praia da Luz beach, one of the prettiest blankets of white sand in the Algarve. Luz is likewise only a couple of minute’s walk, and is a pretty coastal village with winding cobbled streets and white-washed houses, in keeping with its traditional past as a fishing village. The demands of modern tourism have left it unspoilt, but well equipped with a variety of restaurants, shops and bars in which to spend time. The beautiful beach here is popular with families and couples alike, and has a number of water sports on offer including windsurfing, diving and waterskiing.

For a wider selection of shops and restaurants, the nearest large town is Lagos, which has links to the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had a palace here, which was destroyed in an earthquake in the 1700’s. The pedestrianised main street is flush with open air cafes and restaurants, and the main square is the perfect place to while away time watching the street entertainers that perform here. This historic town was also the site of the first slave market in Europe.

Further west of Luz is Sagres, which is Europe’s most south-westerly point, and the place where many Portuguese explorers set forth to navigate the globe.

Ground Floor

The entrance hall leads directly into the bright and spacious living accommodation of Beach House. The large living/dining room has comfortable seating for six people grouped around a coffee table and facing the room’s wood burning stove set into a delightful tapered chimney breast. To the left is a set of glass shelves and to the right is the room’s television, which has some satellite channels. Tiled terracotta floors give a traditional feel to the villa, and keep the room cool in the heat of the day, as do the patio doors leading out onto the terrace. At the opposite end of the room is a rectangular glass table surrounded by six chairs, and conveniently close to the villa’s open plan kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Leading off the living area is one of the house’s bedrooms, which has twin beds. The room has the use of a separate shower room.

Stairs lead directly out of the living space to the upper floor.

First Floor

Upstairs, you will find the house’s remaining two bedrooms. Both are twin rooms, with their own bathrooms. There is a small enclosed private terrace leading off one of the bedrooms and French windows lead from the master bedroom to a covered balcony overlooking the gardens and the pool.

Outside

Beach House is one of four townhouses that share a freeform shaped pool. Mature trees and pretty flowering shrubs surround the houses, which are completely enclosed and make for a private, secure place to sunbathe and enjoy the warm days. The development is only a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the amenities of the village. Sun loungers are available as are parasols.
