Location

The villa is situated on a hill above the resort of Gale, just a short walk from local restaurants and a mini market, with the beach within easy reach. Situated a few kilometres from the much livelier resort of Albufeira, Gale has become a popular Algarve holiday destination in its own right thanks to its beautiful beach which has a vast expanse of golden sand lined with beachside bars and cafes with numerous water sports on offer. If you are looking for more privacy, there are plenty of small coves and beaches to be found along this stretch of coastline scenic clifftop walks to enjoy. Castello beach and Sao Rafael nearby are picturesque coves at the foot of dramatic red sandstone cliffs.
Guia, to the north of Gale, is a pretty village renowned locally for its restaurants serving chicken piri piri, a traditional spiced chicken dish. Guia is also home to Algarve Shopping, a huge commercial centre with a selection of over one hundred shops including a hypermarket, a range of clothes stores and a multiscreen cinema and bowling alley. Zoomarine is a popular attraction at Guia, with exotic birds and marine animals including dolphins and sharks on show. Other family entertainment ion the region includes the Aqualand water park, 15km away near Alcanterilha, and the Slide and Splash water park at Estombar, to the east of Lagoa. .

Nearby Albufeira has grown from a small fishing village into a popular coastal resort whilst retaining much of its charm. The old Moorish part of town has narrow cobbled streets and white-washed fishermen’s cottages, whilst the tourist centre has lively bars, restaurants serving international food and nightclubs which play music late into the night. During the day, you can visit the local market to buy handicrafts and souvenirs or visit one of the resort’s excellent beaches where you can sunbathe, swim in the clear blue water or try out one of the water sports on offer. If you are looking for lively evening entertainment, Albufeira’s popular ‘Strip’ is the place to go.

There are many superb golf courses in the Algarve, the nearest being the 18-hole course at Salgados Golf which backs onto the sand dunes at Gale beach with lovely views across the Atlantic

In Detail

Approach

The villa is approached via a gravelled driveway and has a cobbled parking area in front of the whitewashed wall around the entrance. There is a pedestrian gateway leading to the main door.

Ground Floor

The entrance hall has a striking tiled picture on the wall and is painted white with pale floor tiles underfoot, a theme which continues throughout the villa. The kitchen and living areas lead off from the hall. There is a step down through an archway to the spacious open plan living area which is divided into three parts. At one end, a large abstract painting of the ocean hangs above a wooden-framed sofa and there is a small square dining table with four chairs. The main sitting area has corner seating around a rug and coffee table in the centre, with further easy chairs by the television and DVD player. There is a large brick fireplace in the corner and patio doors to a covered dining terrace overlooking the pool. The formal dining area is furnished with a circular wooden dining table and has a large sideboard with a mirror above

There is a door from the dining area to the kitchen which is at the rear of the property. Fitted with dark wooden units, pale worktops and a breakfast bar, this room is well-equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, oven, gas hob and fridge/freezer. The washing machine is housed in an adjoining utility room.

The ground floor has two bedrooms, each benefiting from direct access to the walled terrace overlooking the pool. There is a spacious double bedroom decorated in white and lemon, with mirrored wardrobes and pine furniture. The second bedroom is well-furnished with matching twin beds and attractive cane furniture. Both rooms share a family bathroom and there is an additional guest cloakroom with WC and washbasin.

First Floor

Stairs from the hallway lead to a landing on the first floor. Double arched doors open to a very large twin bedroom which has a fireplace and a sitting area furnished with comfortable double sofa bed. There are patio doors to the first floor terrace with scenic views over the surrounding area. The fourth bedroom is a double, also with patio doors to the terrace, and there is a further separate bathroom.

Outside

The gardens are mainly to the front of the villa which has pretty terraces on different levels linked by steps and bordered by whitewashed walls. Adjacent to the living room and downstairs bedrooms is a covered dining terrace with patio furniture which has steps leading down to the pool and an area of lawn with built-in seating. The swimming pool is 8m x 4m with a depth range of 1.1m to 1.38m and is surrounded by a walled terrace with ample space to sunbathe on the sun-loungers provided. There is a convenient poolside shower and also a built-in barbecue. The whole area is landscaped with palms, spiky plants and flowering shrubs and there are superb views across trees, countryside and rooftops to the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.

"Villas to Go are very efficient, helpful and provided great customer service. They always answered our questions quickly and helped us coordinate items such as travel cots & high chairs. The description of the villa was very accurate and we were very pleased that everything was as we expected it based on the description and photos (if not, even better as some of the photos didn't do the villa justice...an example being the great views)."

"It's worth it for the beaches, relaxation (you didn't have to leave the villa) and proximity to shopping. Also, Fernando's restaurant (think it's called Cabanitas) was the best food and friendliest service we have had in ages and is only a 3 minute walk from the villa."
