Casa Canova is a delightfully, romantic cottage in the grounds of the owners’ Villa and attached to the caretaker’s accommodation. It does however have privacy and has a lovely view overlooking the Borromean Islands lying in the centre of the lake. These are mini-paradises named after the chief patron of Lake Maggiore, Cardinal Carlo Borromeo.
The furnishings are pretty and the sitting area has a large picture window overlooking the lake, as does the balcony to the double bedroom. The swimming pool is also to the front and is occasionally used by the owner. There is a pretty, private garden to the rear of the cottage.
An open-plan staircase to the first floor has no railing so may be unsuitable for some, especially children.

Piedmont, sitting in Italy’s north western corner is bordered by both France and Switzerland and literally means ‘at the foot of the mountains’. With a dominating skyline of some of Europe’s greatest mountains, Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, Piedmont was once described as a ‘microcosm of Italy’s best’.
