This villa is arranged on one floor, with steps down to the pool area.

Approach

Casa Cluny enjoys a superb location in the centre of Luz. A driveway leads up to the villa, which has a pool terrace at the front and ornamental dry-gardens behind.

Ground Floor

The front door opens to an entrance hall and through double doors to the spacious living and dining room. The living area has comfortable sofas arranged around an open fireplace, giving the room a warm and homely atmosphere. You will also find a TV with satellite channels, video player and CD stereo – perfect for unwinding at the end the day.

The dining area is separated from the living area by a wide archway, and has a glass-top dining table with elegant wrought-iron chairs to seat eight. Patio doors open to a lovely ‘indoor veranda’, with cushioned seating and dining furniture that looks out across the gardens and pool area.

From the dining area, you walk into the spacious kitchen. Fully-equipped, the kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine can be found in a separate utility area, and is for the maid’s use only.

The four bedrooms are located along a separate corridor. All are individually decorated and comfortable furnished. The master twin bedroom has adjacent twin beds under a beautiful white canopy, with twin nightstands, fitted wardrobes and en suite bathroom. Along the corridor are two more twin rooms, one with an en suite bathroom and one with an en suite shower room and door leading to the single bedroom. A single room with sofa bed and an en suite shower room is perfect for a teenager.

Outside

The ‘indoor veranda’ opens to a covered terrace that is perfect for al fresco dining on balmy evenings. From here, steps lead down to the spacious pool area with sun terracing and a shower. You will also find a poolside dining area and a stone barbeque – perfect for family meals cooked fresh on the sizzling grill. Around the pool is ample sunbathing space, surrounded by flowering shrubs and leafy trees for privacy.

From the side of the villa, steps lead up to a spacious roof terrace, with spectacular views of the vast Atlantic Ocean. This elevated position is perfect for secluded sunbathing, or a romantic nightcap overlooking the twinkling lights of Luz. Behind the villa are ornamental gardens, with an interesting selection of cacti and other dry plants.

Location

Casa Cluny is located right in the centre of Luz, a charming seaside village just 6km from Lagos. The nearest amenities are located within 200m, so it’s easy to pop out for a loaf of fresh bread or take a stroll to a local restaurant.

Luz is a popular fishing port that retains much of its traditional charm but also has a bustling cosmopolitan atmosphere. Its beach, Praia da Luz, is one of the Algarve’s finest with fine, white sands and warm turquoise waters. It is well served by a few beachside cafes and water sports are on offer in summer. Its colourful sandstone cliffs provide beautiful cliff-top walks and at one end are the locally renowned ‘rocha negra’ or black rocks; evidence of ancient volcanic activity.

For those seeking leisure pursuits, the surrounding area has much to offer. The nearest golf course is at the Boa Vista golf resort, which also has tennis courts, football pitches and a luxury health club with gym and spa.

Just a short drive brings you to the historic maritime city of Lagos, 6km away. This relaxed and charming city offers a great selection of restaurants, most of which are found in the pedestrianised main street. Lined with open-air cafes, the main square of Praca da Republica is the best place to indulge in a cool drink and a spot of people watching. There are often lots of street entertainers as well; everything from magicians to clowns and living statues. Proud of its history, Lagos played an important part in the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had his ships built here. It was also home to some of the earliest slave markets. Its rich, long history ensures that there are plenty of buildings and historic sites worth visiting; the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian being two of them.

• Lagos Zoo: set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic plants, this zoo contains 250 different animals and offers the chance to get close to a variety of species. There is an educational farm, souvenir shop and restaurant. Located between Sao Joao and Bensafrim.
• Slide and Splash: one of Europe’s biggest water parks, it aims to keep you busy for a whole day with is range of plunging and gentle slides, swimming pools and a lazy rubber ring river. Located near Lagoa.
