Ground Floor

All on one level, Casa da Figueira offers comfortable accommodation in an enviable position, within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and shops of Praia da Luz. The living/dining area is furnished with a large sofa and comfortable seating, a satellite TV with European channels available, DVD and CD player and a tall fireplace which can be used in the cooler months. Doors open onto the covered terrace overlooking the pool. Fitted kitchen with door to a courtyard with built-in barbecue. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, a large wardrobe and dresser and an antique desk. This room has a private bathroom with an oversize bathtub and Portuguese sink. There are two other bedrooms, both furnished with Portuguese style beds – one twin and one triple. There is a further separate full bathroom and a separate shower room.

Outside

The outside areas of Casa da Figueira are its outstanding feature. The large walled pool area has plenty of sun terracing with loungers for enjoying the Algarvean climate. The front door opens to a covered terrace which in turn is connected to a large private enclosed courtyard where children can enjoy playing ball games away from the pool. A winding pathway leads to a lush enclosed tropical garden, the centrepiece of which is the fig tree which gives the house its name. There is also an orangerie with lemon, orange and pear trees which guests are welcome to sample when the fruit is ripe.

Air conditioning/heating available in all rooms. Pool heating available – supplement payable. Daily maid service, linen change once a week, towels changed twice a week. Maid will do clients washing on request. Cot and highchair available. Internet access available (laptop required).

Casa da Figueira is located only 250m from the beach of Praia da Luz, a charming seaside village just 6km from Lagos. The nearest amenities are located within 500m, so it’s easy to pop out for a loaf of fresh bread or take a stroll to a local restaurant.

Luz is a popular fishing village that retains much of its traditional charm but also has a plenty of amenities. Its beach, Praia da Luz, is one of the Algarve’s finest with fine, white sands and warm turquoise waters. It is well served by a few beachside cafes and water sports are on offer in summer. Its colourful sandstone cliffs provide beautiful cliff-top walks and at one end are the locally renowned ‘rocha negra’ or black rocks; evidence of ancient volcanic activity.

For those seeking leisure pursuits, the surrounding area has much to offer. The nearest golf course is at the Boa Vista golf resort, which also has tennis courts, football pitches and a luxury health club with gym and spa.

Just a short drive brings you to the historic maritime city of Lagos, 6km away. This relaxed and charming city offers a great selection of restaurants, most of which are found in the pedestrianised main street. Lined with open-air cafes, the main square of Praca da Republica is the best place to indulge in a cool drink and a spot of people watching. There are often lots of street entertainers as well; everything from magicians to clowns and living statues. Proud of its history, Lagos played an important part in the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had his ships built here. It was also home to some of the earliest slave markets. Its rich, long history ensures that there are plenty of buildings and historic sites worth visiting; the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian being two of them.

• Lagos Zoo: set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic plants, this zoo contains 250 different animals and offers the chance to get close to a variety of species. There is an educational farm, souvenir shop and restaurant. Located between Sao Joao and Bensafrim.
• Slide and Splash: one of Europe’s biggest water parks, it aims to keep you busy for a whole day with is range of plunging and gentle slides, swimming pools and a lazy rubber ring river. Located near Lagoa.
