Casa Gillian has an unusual layout, with rooms on a number of different levels, accessed by a few steps. A unique feature sees the bedrooms opening up off the lounge.

Ground Floor

The front door opens into an entrance lobby which leads to the main living space, which is uniquely laid out on a number of levels, separated by a few steps. A large living/dining room has cool pale walls and warm terracotta tiles and has comfortable furnishings. The large windows allow light to flood into the room and keep it bright and airy. At the comfortable living end of the room, there are squashy fabric sofas clustered around a corner feature fireplace and television on shelving. There is a coffee table and a rug which make the area feel cosy, and the room has a CD player is you fancy a little music. At the other side of the room there is an oval glass table with a set of black chairs, to seat six people. The modern kitchen has light wood base and eye level units and a good amount of surface area to prepare food on. The kitchen comes fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave.

The villa has three bedrooms. The first has a wooden double bed and fitted wardrobes, and a separate shower room. There is a twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and fitted wardrobes. The final room has a double bed, en-suite bathroom and doors to a terrace with steps leading down to the pool area.

Outside

There is a pleasant furnished covered terrace with a built in barbecue which is perfect for dining in the warm Algarve evenings, and has great views over the pool. The pool itself is a good size and has a roman end with integral steps for easy access, and there is an outdoor shower. The pool is surrounded by a tiled patio, which gives ample space for basking in the sun. Pretty colourful flowers and spiky tropical plants in the borders finish off this picturesque setting. There is a small lawn which is perfect for children to play, and the privacy of the grounds is maintained by small whitewashed walls and high green fences.

Location

Casa Gillian is located in the pretty village of Guia, which is famous for its local piri piri restaurants and has a pleasant community feel. The villa itself is about 1km from the village centre where plenty of restaurants and shops can be found: an easy distance to stroll in the morning to the local shops for freshly baked bread. For a wider choice of bars, shopping and nightlife, Albufeira is only a 5km drive, and you are 6km away from some of the most beautiful beaches on the Algarve coast.

Gale beach (6km) has a wide choice of tourist activities including excellent water sports, and good facilities and snack bars. Castello beach (6km) is set against dramatic cliffs - a good place to escape for a little peace. Castello beach and S�o Rafael nearby, are picturesque coves sheltered by dramatic cliffs and rock formations.

For those who are a fan of the game, there are several golf courses in the area. Salgados Golf is only 3km away and backs onto the sand dunes at Gale beach. Salgados is an 18-hole course where the fairways have lovely views of the sea.

The lively resort town of Albufeira, once a fishing village, offers plenty of holiday diversions for all age groups. The wide sandy beaches have many tourist activities on offer including an array of water sports. Daytime activities include shopping, sitting in one of the town's many bars and cafes for a lazy lunch, or taking a tour of the town's market in search of locally produced handicrafts and good quality fresh fruit and vegetables. In the evening, the town comes alive as music throbs through the air, and the many bars, restaurants and clubs fill up with people. The marina to the west of the resort has a good selection of different restaurants, along with the white yachts you would expect. The Old Town reminds you of a bygone era, with its winding cobbled streets and white-washed fishermen's houses.

For those with children, the coast has plenty to offer. Nearby attractions include ZooMarine, which is in Guia, an ocean theme park with a large range of marine animals including sea lions and dolphins. Slide and Splash is a huge water park with slides, rapids and Jacuzzis, with grass areas to relax and eat a picnic.
