Monte Carvoeiro is a prestigious residential development is on a hillside overlooking the ocean, in the popular coastal resort of Carvoeiro. Enjoying an elevated position, Casa Margaretta has beautiful views from both the villa and garden, yet is only a short walk to the heart of the resort. Local restaurants and shops are only 100m away, and the village centre is a mere 200m, where the pretty local beach can be found.

Carvoeiro was originally a quiet fishing village, and although the resort has blossomed in recent years, it still retains its traditional feel. The popular white sandy beach here is sheltered by cliffs and is still home to the colourful fishing boats of the locals. Freshly caught fish is readily available in the town’s many fine fish restaurants, but there are also many international restaurants to choose from. The town is well serviced by shops and supermarkets catering to your holiday needs, and if you take a tour of the winding streets of the old town you will discover boutiques selling traditional handicrafts.

For those who are visiting the area to take advantage of its excellent golfing facilities, then Carvoeiro is well served for courses. The closest course to Monte Carvoeiro is Pestana golf, under 3km away from the villa. The three Carvoeiro courses are Vale do Milho, Vale da Pinta and Quinta do Gramacho. For those willing to travel a little further along the coast, there is Alto Golf at Alvor, and other splendid courses at Penina (the grandfather of courses in the Algarve) Morgado, Palmeres and Salgados. For those interested in other sports, there are tennis courts and a gym at Carvoeiro Club and Rocha Brava, and horse riding at Casa Galariaz. Fishing trips can be arranged and there are numerous water sports within easy reach.

For those with children, the Algarve is well served with amusements. Slide and Splash (EN125 5 minutes from Lagoa) water part is a favourite for families with young children. At Zoomarine, near Albufeira (30km) there are dolphin displays, sea lions and seals and the over eights can join the dolphins in the water. Krazy world has 2 mini golf courses as well as a small Zoo and is located at Guia (20km)

For those who enjoy a little fresh air, a trip to the Monchique mountains is a popular visit. Half an hours drive past Portimao will take you to the cobbled streets of Monchique town, or Foia which is 906m above sea level. On the way home stop at the natural spring of Caldos Monchique and fill a bottle with fresh mountain water.

At Portimao there are number of boat trips which leave from the harbour, and will take you on a tour of local caves or perhaps on a wild dolphin spotting trip. There are also companies which will take you out big game fishing if you fancy trying your hand at something different.

Ground Floor

The living/dining area of Casa Margaretta is a spacious room with large patio doors leading out onto the covered garden terrace. Comfortable sofas are grouped in front of the window, facing the room’s traditional wood burning stove, which is set in a white tapered chimney breast. At the opposite end of the room is a circular dining table which has seating for four people. The room’s television has some satellite channels and a DVD and there is a CD player. A door leads through to the rest of the ground floor, where the kitchen can be found. The farmhouse kitchen is another large room which has a breakfast table, ideal for feeding hungry children in the early mornings. It comes equipped with a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Also on this level are three of the villa’s four bedrooms. The first is a twin room which has its own en suite bathroom. The other two rooms are also twin bedrooms and have the use of the separate family bathroom which is between the two rooms. Both of these twin rooms have large patio doors which lead out onto the covered terrace and have magnificent views of the gardens.

First Floor

Steps lead up to the master double bedroom which is comfortably furnished, and has a large mirrored wardrobe. The room has its own separate bathroom, which has a bath, wc and washbasin. Patio doors lead out onto a pretty covered terrace which has panoramic views over the blue ocean, and is a lovely place to wander out in the early mornings.

Outside

A delightful feature of Casa Margaretta is undoubtedly its glorious garden. Well tended shaved lawns stretch out towards the ocean framed by lush green palm trees and leafy shrubs. A feature of the grounds is the delightful pergola which is trained with colourful buganvillea, and the patio is dotted with flowers spilling from terracotta pots. The villa’s rectangular pool (8m x 4m) is set in paved terracing with a white washed wall along one side, giving the pool area a sense of privacy. The garden area is well serviced with sun loungers and parasols, as well as outdoor dining furniture under one of the covered terraces – the perfect place to take refuge from the midday sun, or enjoy an al fresco meal in the balmy evenings. The villa has its own barbecue.
