Villa Walkthrough
The villa offers one storey accommodation for up to six people.
Approach
This charming villa sits in private gardens bordered by tall hedges close to the Old Town. It has a gated entrance and the driveway is flanked by palms and flowering shrubs. The villa itself has whitewashed walls covered in trailing plants.
Ground Floor
Casa Zodiac was formerly a small Spanish casita which has been carefully restored and extended to create a charming holiday villa with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great attention has been paid to detail from the handmade clay floor tiles and double glazed arched doors and windows to the elegant furnishings both inside and out.
The villa has a comfortable living room which is furnished with a large corner sofa covered in scatter cushions and a couple of armchairs grouped around a coffee table. There is a television with a selection of cable/satellite channels and also a Hi Fi system. The room is simply decorated with white walls and clay tiles underfoot and has a beamed ceiling with a ceiling fan to keep things cool in the heat of the day. Checked curtains adorn the pretty arched windows around the outside of the room and there is an arched doorway to the ‘naya’ which opens to the garden and has a seating area and a conservatory style table and chairs.
The compact kitchen has pine units with a white worktop and wall tiles. It is well-equipped with a microwave and washing machine as well as an electric oven, ceramic hob and a fridge/freezer. There is an archway through to the breakfast dining area which has a circular table with seating for four and a breakfast bar with two high stools. This area also has a ceiling fan.
There are three ground floor bedrooms, all with ceiling fans and furnished in a simple and uncluttered style. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and the third has twin beds. There is a large shower room and also a family bathroom with a bath, shower, WC and washbasin.
Outside
The villa has delightful, secluded gardens filled with palms, fruit trees and flowering shrubs and bordered by tall hedges.
At the rear of the villa is a courtyard with a built-in barbecue and a table and chairs which is perfect for al fresco lunches. The swimming pool is 7.5m x 5m with integral steps and is deep throughout. A paved terrace surrounds the pool and is equipped with sun-loungers and a parasol although the area is edged by palms and trees providing some natural shade at certain times of day. Just across from the pool terrace is a lovely garden room which has Moroccan style décor, a ceiling fan and a WC and washbasin. The vine-clad pergola terrace in front of the garden room is a great place to relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of chilled wine at the end of the day.

Location
Casa Zodiac has a peaceful setting in the Vals Castellans area close to the historic centre of Javea which is around a fifteen minute stroll from the villa. The bustling port with its choice of restaurants and shops is a ten minute drive away and Arenal beach is just a few minutes further on. For golfing enthusiasts, the area has plenty of golf courses including two within easy reach of the villa, La Sella near Denia and Golf Javea near Benitachell. Other sports on offer include horse riding, tennis, bowling and football, not to mention an array of watersports along the coast.
Javea (also known as Xabia) is a lovely coastal town sandwiched between the capes of San Antonio and La Nao, midway between the Spanish cities of Alicante and Valencia. Easily accessible via motorway from the airports of both cities, the area is renowned for its warm summers and mild winters and attracts holidaymakers throughout the year. Frequented by smugglers and pirates during the Middles Ages, the caves and bays along the coast are now popular with snorkellers, sunbathers and scuba divers. Granadella and La Barraca are particularly popular with snorkellers and have beach bar facilities.
Just to the north is the Montgo natural park which is a paradise for those who enjoy walking or exploring. The region has a rugged beauty and varied terrain ranging from rocky crags to lush Mediterranean greenery. You can climb to the summit of Montgo at 753m or simply stroll along the coastal paths at a more leisurely pace. There are fourteen vantage points around Javea which have been specially prepared and waymarked to enable visitors to enjoy the exceptionally scenic views. Approximately fifty minutes’ drive south-west from Javea is the natural water park at les Fonts de l’Algar. Here you can swim in crystal clear pools fed by the waterfalls, wander the bamboo and oleander flanked pathways or enjoy a picnic in beautiful surroundings.
The Arenal area of Javea is around 6km from the villa and has plenty on offer during the summer months. The bay here has a golden sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea and is edged with bars, shops and restaurants and ice cream parlours. There is a wide range of water sports on offer including sailing, fishing and water ski-ing in the bay. The area is very family-friendly and the beach has good facilities including toilets and showers. In the evenings, you can take a stroll along the promenade and watch the street artists performing or shop for souvenirs at the craft stalls set up along the seafront. There are a couple of discos and night clubs for those who like to stay out late but nightlife is mostly based around the resort’s restaurants and bars which sometimes put on Flamenco shows or have live guitar music to entertain customers.
The old town has a maze of narrow streets lined with historical townhouses and beautiful squares. There is also an excellent indoor market selling fresh produce including fruit, cheeses and locally caught fish. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants here, not to mention the traditional tapas bars and art galleries – a great place to explore during the heat of the afternoon.
For families with young children, Benidorm around 50km away, has plenty of fun and entertainment on offer at the Mundomar marine and exotic animal park and the Aqualandia water park. Benidorm is also home to the Terra Mitica theme park where you can try the renowned Tizona roller coaster which reaches speeds of 100km/hour.
