Ground Floor

Casal Antiquario is an elegant property which offers beautiful accommodation for a villa holiday in the sun. The downstairs is rich with traditional features, and is a comfortable place to spend time. There are two different living rooms. The first has comfortable seating gathered around a coffee table, ideal for those late evening chats. This room has a vast old fashioned fireplace which is a stylish feature of the room, and is also extremely useful to keep the house cosy out of season. A painted archway will lead you down a couple of stairs to the second living space, which has upholstered cast iron chairs and terracotta tiled floors which leads through to the games room. There is a second living area which houses the villa’s television and DVD – useful for families with children.

The dining room has an impressive large round oak table and seating for your party, which, combined with iron candelabras with red candles, give the room a stately air. The nearby conservatory has windows which overlook the impressive patio area and lead out to the private pool.

On the ground floor are three of the villa’s bedrooms, all of which have twin beds. One of these bedrooms has an en suite shower room and there is a separate ground floor shower room with a WC and washbasin.

First Floor

Upstairs are the remaining three bedrooms, all of which have double beds, with two rooms benefitting from en suite bathrooms. There is a further separate family bathroom on this floor which has a bath, WC and washbasin. Most of the bedrooms have doors which open out onto the terraces overlooking the pool, which is a lovely feature of the house. It gives easy access to individuals’ belongings from the pool area, and makes a lovely place to wander out in the dewy morning sunshine.

Outside

The impressive exterior of this house is dominated by the rectangular private pool and terracing with beautiful views of the surrounding fruit trees and shrubs of the Algarve countryside. The living accommodation of the house leads out onto the terrace through various doors, and split level terracing all leads down onto a pretty paved area complete with a number of outdoor dining tables with chairs. There is ample space for your party to relax in the sunshine on the sun beds or under the parasols provided. The pool has easy access through integral steps, and is surrounded with leafy palm trees and established shrubs giving the area a well tended and green feel. There is a barbecue area which has a large marble table and is the perfect setting for making use of the warm evenings and dining outdoors. Behind the villa is a courtyard and the property is surrounded by walls and electric gates giving a sense of security. Casal Antiquario is located close to the interesting town of Sao Bras in the Eastern Algarve, not far from Faro airport (20km). This is an area of villages nestling comfortably between hills with white-washed houses along quiet country lanes. The native foliage of the area includes almond, fig, carob and pomegranate trees. Here you get the sense that time has stood still, and that you are entering the secret heart of the Algarve.

The historic market town of Sao Bras is internationally famous for cork production, and has served some of the finest wine cellars in the world. There are some interesting gilded carvings in the main church here, and the town has a former Episcopal palace – harking back to the days when it sheltered the bishops of the Algarve from the searing summer heat.

In this traditional town, many of the traditional handicrafts still thrive, and can be seen in the brooms and brushes made from palm leaves, objects woven from esparto grass and hand produced tiles, wooden spoons and children’s toys.
