The prestigious resort of Quinta do Lago is characterised by luxury villas in lush gardens surrounded by umbrella pines. The resort is flanked by a long sandy beach and the Rio Formosa nature reserve - Europe’s longest wooden bridge leads to the long, dune-backed beach which stretches all the way to Vale do Lobo.
The area is renowned for its excellent golf courses and Quinta do Lago itself has four courses. The Pinheiros Altos course is a scenic 18 hole course consisting of two sets of nine holes with different characteristics. The San Lorenzo course is surrounded by the beauty of the Rio Formosa Natural Park bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Also nearby are the Quinta do Lago North and South courses, whilst a few kilometres away at Vale do Lobo, you will find the superb Royal and Ocean courses as well as an array of other leisure facilities.
Quinta do Lago its own shopping centre, Quinta Shopping, approximately 4km away, with 10,000 sq metres of shops offering a wide range of products with top brand names. There are plenty of high quality restaurants catering for all tastes and some vibrant nightclubs where you can dance until the early hours. Nearby Almancil has all the essentials such as banks, chemists and supermarkets.
The tranquil old town of Faro, regional capital of the Algarve is around 20km away, where you can explore the maze of narrow pedestrian streets and alleyways or view the wonderful Renaissance style cathedral in the central town.
