The Cristiano apartments are located in Olhos D'Agua, a quaint fishing village 5km east of Albufeira and 6km west of Vilamoura. A boardwalk running past the apartment leads straight down the beach, only 100m away. Amenities are all within a short walk, making it easy to pop out for a loaf of fresh bread, or take a stroll to one of the village’s renowned seafood restaurants.
Olhos d’Agua (Eyes of the Water) takes its name from the freshwater springs that emerge at low-tide and underwater. The main street runs down to the beach where fishermen bring in hordes of fish each day, most of which finds their way to the local restaurants.
Still very much a traditional fishing village, Olhos d’Agua has managed to retain much of its charm while developing excellent tourist amenities. Still a fairly quiet resort, Olhos d’Agua offers some nightlife in it’s bars and hotels, but those seeking all-night clubs will be better served by the street of bars know as ‘the strip’ in Albufeira.
The picturesque town beach features typical Algarve rock formations and pine-clad cliffs. The warm shallow waters are popular with families, and children delight in playing in the large number of rock pools. Towards the western end of the beach, there are numerous little coves to explore. The beachside promenade offers convenient facilities such as toilets and cafés, and there are fishing and boat trips available. Nearby beaches include Maria Luisa and Santa Eulalia, which tend to be a little quieter than Olhos d’Agua. Just 5km away is the famous Falesia Beach, whose golden sands stretch all the way to Vilamoura.
Only 5km away is the sprawling and lively town of Albufeira, where there is plenty to see and something to suit everyone. During the day you can enjoy the sandy stretches of beach or browse the markets where local handicrafts and fresh goods are sold. In the evening, a wide variety of bars, restaurants and clubs fill the streets with people and life; locals sit on the terraces of traditional restaurants, the bars fill up with thirsty punters, and all kinds of music drift across the air. You can also stroll around the newly completed marina in the west and admire the dazzling array of white yachts. Alternatively, you could wander around the Old Town and explore the maze of cobbled streets, past white-washed fishermen’s houses.
Many of the local beaches have water sports on offer throughout the summer, and there are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts and horse riding facilities found all around the Algarve. The nearest golf courses are Balaia Golf Village and Pine Cliffs Golf, both 2.5km. Golf enthusiasts may also want to visit Vilamoura, one of Europe’s top golf destinations, which has a selection of 18-hole championship courses. An extremely cosmopolitan resort, Vilamoura offers almost every kind of sport and entertainment. You will find six golf courses, sports clubs, horse riding stables, a shooting range, night clubs, a casino and plenty of restaurants and bars.
