Fig Tree is a spacious three bedroom villa, where the bedrooms are on the ground floor, and the living accommodation is on the upper level.

Approach

The villa is approached through gates with a colourful bourganvilliea covered archway which leads to the entrance at the rear of the villa.

Ground Floor

The ground floor houses the villa’s three bedrooms – a double room and two twins. The master double has an en-suite bathroom, and doors which lead out onto the pretty pool terrace. The two twin rooms also have doors which lead out onto the terrace, and all rooms enjoy light, airy décor and pleasant bedroom furniture. The two twin rooms share the separate bathroom, which is equipped with a bath, washbasin and wc.

First Floor

On the upper level of Fig Tree is the spacious and bright living accommodation of the villa. The spacious living/dining area is comfortably furnished with pale cream sofas gathered around a pretty wood burning stove which is set in a white tapered chimney, along with a coffee table, and occasional chairs. The television has some satellite channels and the room also has a CD player. The living accommodation is kept bright and airy by the large patio doors which are found along one side of the room, and these lead out onto the splendid upper terrace with its magnificent views of the sea on the horizon. At the opposite end of the room is a dining table which has seating for six.

The separate kitchen is modern and fully fitted with light wood base and eye level units. The room is large and has space for a breakfast table and chairs perfect for preparing food or eating breakfast. The room is equipped with a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine – every modern convenience for your villa holiday. There is also a guest cloakroom on this level.

Outside

The large, spacious pool terrace has ample sun loungers and umbrellas for those wishing to bask in the sun, or take a break from it. There is outdoor dining furniture for those who wish to take advantage of the balmy evening and the built-in barbecue and dine outdoors. The large private pool has integral steps for easy access into the cool blue water. From the terrace, the views are splendid – to the south you can see the sea glittering in the distance, and to the west and north are the burnt grasses and green shrubs of the Algarve countryside, out as far as the Monchique mountains.

Changeover day is Saturday. Maid service is included 2 days a week, and linen and towels are provided.

Location

Fig Tree lies between Luz and Burgau in the heart of the Algarve countryside.

Burgau is a 10 minute drive west of Lagos, and is a village nestling on the edge of the national park. Still a working fishing village, colourful boats still pepper the waters, and the beach is a sandy blanket on which to while away the sunny days. A market appears daily, and every day you can purchase something different, from clothes to kitchen ware to fish and fresh produce.

Luz, in the western Algarve is a popular destination with families and couples alike because of its splendid sandy beach, well known for its good water sports, including windsurfing, boating, waterskiing and diving. The village retains a traditional Portuguese charm with its winding cobbled streets and quaint white-washed houses, which blend easily with the demands of modern tourism. There is an array of interesting restaurants in the village along with two good beach bars. For a wider selection, Lagos is nearby and has a more lively nightlife with some discos. Further west is Sagres, which is the most south-westerly point in Europe, and the place where Portuguese explorers set forth to navigate the globe.

Lagos is a historic maritime city which has links with Henry the Navigator. The pedestrianised main street is lined with restaurants and open-air cafes and Praca da Republica, the main square is a great place for people watching, and taking advantage of the street entertainment on offer. Lagos’ importance during the Age of Discovery finds the streets steeped in history, and it is also the site of the earliest slave market in Europe. Historic sites include the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian.
