Location
The nearest beach is Praia da Marinha, 2.8km away. This beautiful sandy beach has 116 steps down to it but they are quite even and well-maintained. As well as golden sands, Marinha boasts dramatic cliffs and beautiful tunnels and formations in the rocks, opening to small, hidden coves.
7km away is the large village of Carvoeiro; once a quiet fishing village that has steadily grown throughout the years to incorporate the flourishing tourist trade. Its streets are lined with shops, bars and restaurants and market stalls selling fresh, local goods. Its sandy beach is very popular and offers water sports in high season, but is quite small and can become crowded. Although now a bustling place in summer, the essence of the sleepy village still remains in the local fisherman who sail the seas and bring home their catches, sorting them in the harbour.
The popular beach resort of Armacão de Pera is about 9km away. There is a sandy stretch of beach ideal for long walks, and giving plenty of room for everyone (and it can get busy in high season). The beachfront does have several high-rise apartments, the upside of which is the vast array of cafes, shops and restaurants to serve all your needs. And should you wish to leave the peace of the villa, it has some lively nightlife.
For those with kids, good family attractions nearby include…
• Aqualand Water Park – Located about 9km away in Alcantarilha, this water park has plenty of slides and flumes to scream your way down and rapids where you can float along in rubber rings.
• ZooMarine – an ocean theme park set amongst lakes and gardens with exhibitions, shows and rides to entertain the whole family. Has a large range of marine animals from sea lions and dolphins to turtles and exotic birds. Approx 15km away
• Krazy World – a family attractions site with a small zoo that has live animal shows throughout the summer and aims to inspire children about conservation. There is also a petting zoo (with camels and llamas!), pony rides and mini-golf so there’s enough to keep the whole family occupied for a day. Approx. 25km away

In Detail
Ground Floor
The striking Quinta da Avo stands tall within large open gardens; its bright white-washed walls and pastel blue painted edges distinct against the surrounding green lawns. Set amidst beautiful rolling countryside, this holiday villa offers spacious and well-furnished accommodation with peace and privacy. From the driveway, you enter this huge villa through a front door into an elegant entrance hall.
This light and spacious villa has white walls, smooth tiled flooring and large sunny windows throughout; making it cool and airy even in the midday heat. The rooms are simply and elegantly furnished with contemporary style and nice attention to details; such as soft cushions and colourful prints on the walls.
An arched doorway leads you into the open-plan living/dining room, which has a large marble-surround open fireplace in the centre. Two sofas and a glass-topped coffee table are arranged in front of this. And there is also a TV cabinet with satellite TV and Hi-fi stereo.
Behind, the dining area contains a smart glass-topped table and six chairs and a sideboard. Two sets of patio doors open from the front of this room to the large sunny gardens and pool terrace.
The very large kitchen is fitted with contemporary fixtures and has modern appliances including a microwave and dishwasher. The oven has a ceramic hob, and there is also a round breakfast table and chairs. A door opens to the gardens, and an adjacent utility room houses the washing machine.
Also on the ground floor is a small cloakroom, and three bedrooms. The first is a double with an en-suite bathroom. There are two further bedrooms, both furnished with twins and their own en-suite shower rooms. The bedrooms typically have wooden bed frames, bedside tables with reading lamps, sunny curtained windows and wardrobes.
First Floor
Stairs lead you up to the master double bedroom. This pretty bedroom has a double wooden bed, bedside cabinets, and a chest of drawers with large mirror. The curtained windows display beautiful far-reaching views across the surrounding green countryside. There is an en-suite bathroom and doors out on to a private balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. The same beautiful views can be enjoyed here. At night, you could enjoy a romantic nightcap under the stars and look out across the twinkling lights of countryside houses.
Outside
The large green garden is bordered by a large white wall and thick, green hedges and enjoys complete privacy. Although there is are a few neighbours nearby, they also have extensive grounds and are well-screened from the villa.
Beautiful green lawns surround the villa on all sides, broken only by a few spiky palms or white stepping-stone pathway. The large private pool is surrounded by a sunny terracotta-tiled terrace and has integral steps to the side, leading you gently into the cool water. Around the terrace are plenty of sunloungers for relaxing and soaking up the warm rays. There is also a small poolside shower, handy for washing off the remaining grains of sand when you return from the beach.
Immediately outside the living room is a covered terrace providing shade and garden tables and chairs for eight – the perfect place for long, lazy lunches.

"The villa was excellent and HUGE!! It comfortably slept 8 people but there weren't enough chairs for the tables, which I don't think would be big enough anyway. Will use Villas To Go again though."
"Carvoeiro was great, this was my 2nd visit (10yrs previous) and it's still unspoilt although a lot more accomodation. Beachs smallish but good. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Ideal if you don't want the hussle and bussle of a busy resort."
