Villa Walkthrough

Quinta Patash is a restored farmhouse set on one floor with spacious yet cosy accommodation.

Approach

Quinta Patash is a beautifully restored Portuguese farmhouse, set amongst beautiful gardens and private grounds of 50 acres. This stunning villa is set in an elevated position with lovely panoramic rural views, and particularly spectacular views of the mountains of Monchique to the north. Owned by a British Shakespeare actress and her husband, the property is furnished in a tasteful cottage-style that is cosy and comfortable.
Set amongst 50 acres, a road winds up to the villa past rural scenery amongst the dappled shade of mature trees. The main entrance opens to a hallway leading off to the different rooms.

Ground Floor

Throughout this restored farmhouse the walls are white, the floors tiled and the gently-sloping ceilings are covered in wooden beams. The large elegant living/dining room is set beneath high beamed ceilings. At one end is the living area with sofas, armchairs and a writing-desk are arranged in front of a huge fireplace; with seating and a wood-burning stove. Between this living area and the formal dining area behind is a grand piano. Opposite, A wide archway leads through to a separate cosy TV room where more sofas, armchairs, rugs and tables are arranged near a large TV that has satellite reception.
The dining area contains a large solid wood table and chairs for six, as well as a large side dresser. A doorway opens through to the large kitchen which features a panoramic bay window, looking out over the far-reaching rural views. It is lined with rows of country-style units and a glossy worktop and in the centre is a breakfast table and four chairs. Well-equipped, this kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and oven/hob.
The master bedroom is nicely furnished with twin beds, a range of antique furniture, a dressing area and its own en-suite bathroom. The patterned, tiled bathroom features a bathtub, toilet and washbasin.
The second bedroom is similarly furnished with twin beds. Sunny windows overlook the magnificent garden and views, and attractive beams line the high, sloping ceiling. Adjacent is a shower room with shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin. There is also a separate cloakroom on the ground floor.

Outside

The beautiful and colourful gardens feature a range of different areas; a formal Versailles garden with a fish pond, open sun-drenched lawns, shaded dining terraces, and of course, a large pool terrace. Here there is a large private pool; oval-shaped and with integral steps leading gradually into the water at one end. This large terrace is enclosed within small walls, and gated; giving peace of mind to those with small children.
Some of the pathways and terraces that are found throughout the garden feature original cobles and there are other rustic details too. By the (unoccupied) stables you will find a traditional bread oven. There is also a built-in barbecue, and the huge gardens have seven different outdoor dining areas; providing a sunny or shady spot to suit every time of day and provide a different viewpoint over the stunning surroundings. The gardens here are nothing short of magnificent, and provide plenty of opportunities for exploring, strolling and enjoying the warm Algarve sunshine.

Location

Quinta Patash is a beautifully restored farmhouse villa set in grounds of 50 acres (shared with one other restored house which is separate and secluded). Situated in a great rural location, just 5km from both the city of Lagos and the stunning coastline at Praia da Luz.

The nearby quaint village of Portelas, 2km away offers a small mini-market and couple of restaurants.

The beach at Luz is only 5km away; this popular fishing port retains much of its traditional charm but also has a bustling cosmopolitan atmosphere. Its beach ‘Praia da Luz’ is one of the Algarve’s finest with fine, white sands and warm turquoise waters. It is well served by a few beachside cafes and water sports are on offer in summer. Its colourful sandstone cliffs provide beautiful cliff-top walks and at one end are the locally renowned ‘rocha negra’ or black rocks; evidence of ancient volcanic activity.

5km away is the historic maritime city of Lagos. This relaxed and charming city offers a great selection of restaurants; the biggest concentration of which is found in the pedestrianised street. Lined with open-air cafes, the main square of Praça da Republica is the best place to indulge in a cool drink and a spot of people watching. There are often lots of street entertainers as well; everything from magicians to clowns and living statues.
Proud of its history, Lagos played an important part in the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had his ships built here. It was also home to some of the earliest slave markets. Its rich, long history ensures that there are plenty of buildings and historic sites worth visiting; the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian being two of them.

For those with kids (or just big kids), good attractions nearby include…
• Lagos Zoo: set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic plants, this zoo contains 250 different animals and offers the chance to get close to a variety of species. There is an educational farm, souvenir shop and restaurant. Located between Sao Joao and Bensafrim.
• Slide and Splash: one of Europe’s biggest water parks that aims to keep you busy for a whole day with is range of plunging and gentle slides, swimming pools and a lazy rubber ring river. Approx 25km away near Lagoa.
