This classical manor house has been renovated into three separate cottages; each is completely self-contained but they join together to form a great villa choice for large groups of friends holidaying together. There is one 3-bedroom cottage and two 2-bedroom cottages.

Ground Floor

Quinta Pe de Cerro means roughly ‘house of the hill’ which well describes this impressive manor house. Renovated into three separate cottages, this classical building is set on a green hillside overlooking the beautiful landscape stretching over to Faro (the capital of the Algarve). The villa is located in an end of cul-de-sac position with electronic gates.

Accommodation:
The renovated interiors of Quinta Pe de Cerro reflect the elegance and tradition of this classical manor house. Whilst the kitchens and bathrooms are modern and well-equipped, the lounges and bedrooms are simple and elegantly decorated with antique wooden furniture. There are white walls, wooden beams, tiled floors and shuttered windows throughout the cottages. All have a cosy sitting area with sofas and fireplaces, as well as dining areas with tables and chairs. The careful decoration also features many little ‘objets d’art’ and interesting details; creating a homely, elegant feel with a nice mix of the old and the new.

COTTAGE 1 – (3 BEDROOMS)

The interior of Cottage one has a living area with the traditional white-washed walls and terracotta tiles of the area. There is a dining table in the centre of the room, with seating for four people, and more comfortable seating grouped near to the wood burning stove, which is set into the corner of the room. A large pine dresser houses all the equipment that you would need for a self catering holiday in the sun, and is where you will find the cottage’s television, which has some satellite channels. The room has delightful arched windows which keep the room light and airy, and wooden shutters to keep the room cool.

From the living accommodation, you can access the kitchen, which has wooden base and eye level units, and which comes equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer and microwave.

Also on the ground floor is one of the cottage’s bedrooms, which has simple wooden framed beds, and has its own en-suite shower room.

On the upper floor are the two remaining bedrooms, one twin and one double and two separate bathrooms.

COTTAGE 2 – (2 BEDROOMS)
The second cottage has a delightful living area of white-washed walls and open brickwork, along with traditional terracotta tiles which keep the floors cool underfoot. Comfortable seating is grouped around the room’s open fireplace which is set into a tapered chimney breast and flanked by the room’s television. There is a downstairs cloakroom for easy access during the day time.

The dining area of the cottage has a large wooden table and ten chairs ideal for large group mealtimes, and the kitchen is conveniently located close by. It has wooden base and eye level units, a hob, oven, fridge/freezer and microwave.

Both the bedrooms of Cottage two have pretty twin ironwork beds, pale walls and wooden beams running across the ceiling. There are built-in wardrobes for all your holiday belongings and there are two bathrooms for their use. From the patio doors of these bedrooms, there is a wide upper terrace where there are beautiful views of the pool and the countryside beyond.

COTTAGE 3 (2 BEDROOMS)

Cottage 3 has a large entrance hall, which leads into the living accommodation. Here you will find a wood burning stove, dining table and chairs and comfortable seating for your party. In one corner of the room, there is a television, which has some satellite channels, and the room is conveniently situated close to the kitchen which is modern and fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer and microwave. There is a guest cloakroom on the lower level.

The first of this cottage’s two bedrooms is a lovely room with large twin beds, wooden ceilings and tiled floors. It is equipped with built-in wardrobes, and has a sofa for your guests to relax on in the privacy of their own room. There is an en-suite bathroom with bath, wc and washbasin. The second has an ornate dark wood double bed and storage settle. This room also has its own bathroom.

Outside

Paths lead down a stairway from each cottage to the huge central pool terrace, enclosed by stone walls and opening to a large green lawn on one side. The large rectangular pool has integral steps to lead you gently into the water. Lined around the poolside are plenty of sunloungers and parasols where you laze in the warm sunshine and gaze across the landscape.
Tucked away around one side of the house is a huge dining area with a built-in barbecue, large terrace and plenty of tables and chairs. Also outside is a small communal utility room with a washing machine and laundry equipment.
A long terrace lines the front of the villa; perfect for relaxing with a cool glass of wine in the dying evening sun. Due to its elevated position, Quinta Pe de Cerro has panoramic views. These far-reaching views span a huge section of the Algarve landscape; past white-washed villages, and fields full of olive and citrus groves. Another point of interest; you can also see the large structure of the Euro 2004 stadium some 2-3kms away.

Location

The impressive classical manor house of Quinta Pe do Cerro is situated on the outskirts of the village of Santa Barbara da Nexe, 9km north of Faro. The heart of the village has many restaurants and shops including a supermarket, 2km away.

Santa Barbara da Nexe is a traditional village which retains much un-spoilt charm, set amongst green hills and overlooking a landscape full of fruit groves and farmsteads. The villages most prominent and renowned landmark is the 400-year old church with its tall bell tower. There is also a hill fort that dates back to the Bronze Age, proving that Santa Barbara has a long, rich history. The women still undertake the traditional craft of weaving great palm leaves to make baskets, mats and hats.

The pretty town of Loulé is 6kms from Santa Barbara. Its traditional cobbled pathways are home to the small shops where local craftsmen make their wares. Every Saturday there is a lively market where stalls fill the square with fresh local goods and the handicrafts. A few walls remain among the beautiful ruins of a 12th century Arab castle, which stand side-by-side with Loulé’s modern buildings.

The Algarve capital of Faro is home to a spectacular coastline where sandbanks, islands and miles of dune intermingle across the low waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This area is a natural park; protected for its environmental importance but the sandy beaches are open to all who wish to build sandcastles, and splash in the warm, shallow waters.

West of Faro you will find the popular resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta da Lago; both with sandy beaches and two world-class golf courses, approx 10km.
