The villa is arranged on two floors, with two bedrooms downstairs and one bedroom upstairs.

Approach

Villa Rosa Amelia is set amongst the pines, blossoming almond, fig, palm and olive trees of the Boa Vista golf resort. The resort has gleaming white villas set in leafy gardens, with spectacular views of the fairways and coast. There is a driveway with parking space behind the villa.

Ground Floor

Rosa Amelia is beautifully decorated, with smooth wooden floors and high-quality furnishings throughout. The front door opens to an entrance hall, and through elegant double doors to the split-level living and dining room. The dining area is light and airy, with a solid wooden dining table to seat eight and French windows that open to the terrace and let in plenty of natural light. On the right is the staircase that leads to the first floor.

From here, steps lead down to the inviting living area. Comfortable sofas, oriental rugs and well-placed lamps add homely touches to this cosy room. You will also find a CD stereo, satellite TV, a DVD player and VCR, ideal for restful moments indoors.

The country pine kitchen is connected to the living room by a wide archway. Spacious and fully-equipped, the kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and breakfast bar.

A double bedroom and a twin bedroom are located along a separate corridor. Both are comfortably furnished, and have doors to the pool terrace. Beside them are a separate full bathroom and a shower room.

First Floor

Upstairs is the spacious master double bedroom. This lovely bedroom has its own living area with a sofa and TV, and an en suite bathroom. French windows open onto a private balcony terrace that overlooks the pool area and offers fantastic views of the resort. Location

Rosa Amelia is located on the Boa Vista golf resort, 3km west of Lagos. The luxurious 260-acre resort is home to an 18-hole course set amongst umbrella pines, blossoming almond, fig, palm and olive trees, water hazards and carefully placed bunkers. The resort enjoys spectacular scenery and breathtaking views of the clear Atlantic Ocean. Other resort facilities include a sundeck with heated pool, tennis courts, football pitches and a luxury health club with gym and spa. The resort also has a club house restaurant serving a variety of European dishes.

The nearest beach is at Luz, 3km to the west. Luz is a popular fishing port that retains much of its traditional charm but also has a bustling cosmopolitan atmosphere. Its beach, Praia da Luz, is one of the Algarve’s finest with fine, white sands and warm turquoise waters. It is well served by a few beachside cafes and water sports are on offer in summer. Its colourful sandstone cliffs provide beautiful cliff-top walks and at one end are the locally renowned ‘rocha negra’ or black rocks; evidence of ancient volcanic activity.

For dining and shopping, head east to the historic maritime city of Lagos. A short drive brings you to this relaxed and charming city, which offers a great selection of restaurants – most of which are found in the pedestrianised street. Lined with open-air cafes, the main square of Praca da Republica is the best place to indulge in a cool drink and a spot of people watching. There are often lots of street entertainers as well; everything from magicians to clowns and living statues. Proud of its history, Lagos played an important part in the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had his ships built here. It was also home to some of the earliest slave markets. Its rich, long history ensures that there are plenty of buildings and historic sites worth visiting; the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian being two of them.

• Lagos Zoo: set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic plants, this zoo contains 250 different animals and offers the chance to get close to a variety of species. There is an educational farm, souvenir shop and restaurant. Located between Sao Joao and Bensafrim.
• Slide and Splash: one of Europe’s biggest water parks, it aims to keep you busy for a whole day with is range of plunging and gentle slides, swimming pools and a lazy rubber ring river. Located near Lagoa.
