Villa Almendra is located in quiet countryside between Sa Rapita and Campos de Puerto (Campos for short). Campos offers the nearest amenities to the villa, with plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. The villa is 5kms drive from the stunning, sandy beach of Es Trenc, where there is also a restaurant. The nearest golf course in Son Antem, 10km away, near Llucmajor.

Campos is a quiet, agricultural town which comes to life every Thursday and Saturday for a busy, colourful farmers market. The town is a friendly place with a selection of interesting shops and restaurants. The bakeries come highly recommended by tourists and locals alike. Founded in 1300 by the legendary king Jaume II, the town features plenty of historical buildings and many lovingly restored in the original style. When evening comes, you may want to sample a glass of the local wine and one of the welcoming local bars.

Around Campos, the countryside offers plenty of attractions and relaxing pursuits. Simply exploring the countryside in a car will lead you to hilltop villages, pine woods, olive groves and hidden beaches. Not far from Villa Almendra is the village of Ses Covetes, which means “small caves”. The name is believed to refer to Roman burial chambers on the same site. However, most people are interested in the village for one thing: its beautiful, unofficial nudist beach, Es Trenc. Offering four kilometres of white sand and blue sea, Es Trenc is backed by sand dunes and a natural park.

Approach

A set of wrought iron gates lead into the entrance of the villa, through which you can see the well tended lawns, dotted with palms and pretty flowerbeds. From the gates, a wide path curves around to the front door. Despite being recently built, Villa Almendra has been finished in local stonework to emulate the local manor houses.

Ground Floor

The light and airy entrance hall leads you into the dining room that seats eight. The French windows at the end of the room offer beautiful countryside views. Through a door on the left is the modern, fully equipped kitchen, which has both a dishwasher and washing machine. Throughout the villa, wooden beamed ceilings lend rustic charm to every room.

Left from the entrance hall is the spacious living room, comfortably furnished with patio doors leading out to the pool terrace. Leaving these open will invite a cooling breeze into the villa, and allow the children to pass easily in and out of the sunshine. The living room offers satellite TV, a CD player, DVD player and Playstation 2 – handy for keeping the children out of the midday sun.

On the right of the entrance hall is a twin bedroom, with an en suite bathroom. The double bedroom is reached through a door off the living room, and features an en suite shower room.

First Floor

Upstairs there are a further two double rooms. One room has an en suite bathroom; the other has an en suite shower room. Both feature doors onto private balconies. From the roomy first-floor landing, doors lead out onto a large roof terrace, from which the sea can just be seen glinting beyond the low hills in the distance.

Outside

Patio doors lead you out to the terrace and gardens. Surrounded by flowering oleander hedges in a remote, rural setting, the gardens enjoy complete privacy. The spacious pool terrace has plenty of places to stretch out, and there are steps into the water for easy access - great for the youngest and eldest members of your family. The shaded dining terrace has a barbeque - after all, there’s nothing like dining al fresco on a long, balmy evening.
