Villa Alvas is a three-bedroomed private villa located between the resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, which offer a wealth of leisure facilities, including world-glass golf courses and plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants. As each bedroom in this house has its own en-suite it might suit groups of friends wanting to holiday together or families with older children.

The long 3km stretch of dune-backed, golden sands which border the Atlantic in this part of the Algarve, are popular with local surfers and the families holidaying in Vale do Lobo. As well as golf, horse-riding and tennis, there are plenty of water sports on offer along this section of the Atlantic coast.

There are many golf courses nearby; including the Royal and Ocean courses on the neighbouring Vale do Lobo development, approximately 2km from the villa. Alternatively, Quinta do Lago South (the course used for the Portuguese open) and Quinta do Lago North are approximately 2km away.

The main town of Amancil has many shops and restaurants to choose from and there are
plenty more restaurants and cafes lining the sophisticated beach front Praça (or promenade) at Vale do Lobo. Most of these restaurants have large outdoor terraces where you dine al fresco and watch the world go by.

Nearby attractions include the ‘Aqua Show’ water park, a 15 minute drive from Vale do Lobo and the Zoo-Marine sea life centre theme park in Albufeira, approximately 23km away. The inland town of Loulé, about 15 minutes away by car, has a craft market every Saturday.

Approach

You approach this spacious, split-level villa through a gated entrance and along a driveway. At the top of the drive are a short set of stairs which take you up to the main entrance.

Ground Floor

The entrance hall leads you through to the large, airy living space which, due to its generous size has an air of grandeur yet also has a cosy, comfortable feel. In the sitting room, there is a feature fireplace in one corner and, on the wall adjoining it, patio doors opening out onto the lawned garden area. There are comfortable armchairs and sofas draped with soft, fitted covers in a green fabric that matches the curtains, complementing the views out of the windows to the verdant garden. The dining area has a table and chairs to seat six and is prettily furnished with a country-style side cabinet and a large mirror, reflecting the natural sunlight back into the room. Off to the side of this, through a set of double doors, is the well-equipped kitchen. This has a fresh, clean look with white-fronted units and the same, pale tiled floor continued through from the living area. There are windows looking out to the gardens, although you won’t need a view from the sink whilst doing the washing up, because the kitchen has a dishwasher, as well as a microwave and washing machine. Also on the ground floor is a small guest cloakroom and two bedrooms. The first has a double bed, large built-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom with tiled walls. The second is furnished with twin beds, and also has its own en-suite bathroom.

First Floor

A marble staircase leads you up to the master suite where the master bedroom is fitted with a double bed and has its own en-suite bathroom. It also has a set of doors opening out on to a private roof terrace, where you can enjoy a glass of wine under the stars at night. Steps lead down from this terrace to join the pool and gardens.

Outside

The private, rectangular pool is bordered by a strip of terrace and enclosed by the hedges that run around the perimeter of the property. The pool has integral steps, leading you gradually into the cooling water. To the side is a manicured, green lawn with a large, feature palm tree in its centre. The palm fronds drape over the lawn, creating patches of shade and the tranquil rustle of leaves in the breeze for those relaxing on the sun-loungers.
