Popular with families, the resort of Bitez has a gently shelving beach lined with beach umbrellas which is well served by beachfront restaurants, cafes and shops. The cooling breeze coming off the sea generally provides excellent conditions for windsurfing and yachting. The main village is slightly set back from the beach and has a tea house beside the mosque and a couple of little corner shops.
Further afield, the beautiful, sun-drenched peninsula around Bodrum on the Aegean Coast of Turkey is perfect for a beach villa holiday. Laid-back holiday villages mingle with the relics of ancient civilisations, whilst traditional bazaars stand alongside modern shops and excellent restaurants serving Turkish and international cuisine. The clear, blue waters of the Aegean Sea draw you to the beaches nestled in rocky coves or the quaint fishing harbours where you can take a boat trip to neighbouring islands.
The bohemian and upmarket resort of Bodrum has a special atmosphere with its picturesque white washed houses and abundance of flowers. As well as a magnificent 15th Century castles, Bodrum town also has a bustling marina full of yachts and traditional ‘gulets’ which are used for boat trips around the islands. Numerous bars and restaurants serve both regional and international dishes and provide a focus for the town’s lively nightlife. There is also a bazaar, a good choice of shops and of course, a selection of superb beaches within easy reach including Gumbet and Bardaci Beach.
