Villa Walkthrough

This split-level villa is arranged on two floors, with a few steps down to a lower level.

Approach

Villa Carolina is situated in a glorious cliff-top position, and enjoys panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The villa is set in large grounds with beautiful gardens, and offers a high degree of privacy. The driveway leads from the road to parking space outside the villa.

Ground Floor

The front door opens to the entrance hall, and through to the bright, sunny kitchen. Modern and fully-equipped, the kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. One door leads off to a utility room with a washing machine, and another leads to a twin bedroom. Comfortably furnished, the bedroom has an en suite shower room.

Lower Floor

Three steps lead you down to the split-level and dining room. Beautifully furnished and filled with natural light, this room enjoys spectacular ocean views through several sets of French windows. In the living area is a traditional open fireplace with a wood-burning stove. Two luxurious leather sofas provide the perfect place to unwind, along with satellite TV, a DVD player and CD stereo.
The dining area is separated from the living area by a wide archway and single step up. Looking out across ocean views, the glass-top dining table seats eight to ten people. Patio doors lead out to a covered terrace that is perfect for al fresco dining.

From the living area, a further few steps lead down to the remaining four bedrooms, all of which are tastefully decorated in soft colours. The master twin bedroom is light and spacious, with a separate dressing room and en suite bathroom. The adjacent twin bedroom has fitted wardrobes and also has an en suite bathroom. Two more twin bedrooms share the use of a separate, fully-tiled bathroom. All four bedrooms have patio doors to the gardens, so you can slip out to the pool first thing in the morning and enjoy the balmy sea breeze in the evening.

Outside

Perched on a cliff-top, Villa Caroline is surrounded by lush gardens that overlook the expanse of ocean beyond. From the living and dining room, you step out onto a covered veranda with spectacular views. There is an attractive built-in dining area that is perfect for al fresco dining. Sitting here on a warm evening, you can taste the sea salt on the air, and listen to sound of the ocean waves.

Steps lead down to the spacious pool area, where you will find a poolside shower and stone barbeque. There is plenty of space for lazing around the pool, and steps lead into the shallow end for easy access.

Around the villa are beautifully manicured lawns, with plenty of space for the children to run around and play. Neat shrubs and flowering trees create welcome shady spots, perfect for stretching out for a quiet read. Lying in the garden, you can enjoy uninterrupted relaxation to the soothing sound of the waves. It is also possible to walk along the cliff-top into the centre of Luz – an exhilarating twenty minute walk along the spectacular coastline.

Location

Villa Caroline is located along the coast, just 3km from Luz. From the villa, it is possible to walk along the cliff-top into the centre of Luz, where you will find a wide selection of supermarkets, restaurants and cafés.

Luz is a popular fishing port that retains much of its traditional charm but also has a bustling cosmopolitan atmosphere. Its beach, Praia da Luz, is one of the Algarve’s finest with fine, white sands and warm turquoise waters. It is well served by a few beachside cafes and water sports are on offer in summer. Its colourful sandstone cliffs provide beautiful cliff-top walks and at one end are the locally renowned ‘rocha negra’ or black rocks; evidence of ancient volcanic activity.

For those seeking leisure pursuits, the surrounding area has much to offer. The nearest golf course is at the Boa Vista golf resort, which also has tennis courts, football pitches and a luxury health club with gym and spa.

Just a short drive brings you to the historic maritime city of Lagos, 6km away. This relaxed and charming city offers a great selection of restaurants, most of which are found in the pedestrianised main street. Lined with open-air cafes, the main square of Praca da Republica is the best place to indulge in a cool drink and a spot of people watching. There are often lots of street entertainers as well; everything from magicians to clowns and living statues. Proud of its history, Lagos played an important part in the Age of Discovery and Henry the Navigator had his ships built here. It was also home to some of the earliest slave markets. Its rich, long history ensures that there are plenty of buildings and historic sites worth visiting; the governor’s castle and the church of St Sebastian being two of them.

For those with kids (or just big kids), good attractions nearby include…
• Lagos Zoo: set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic plants, this zoo contains 250 different animals and offers the chance to get close to a variety of species. There is an educational farm, souvenir shop and restaurant. Located between Sao Joao and Bensafrim.
• Slide and Splash: one of Europe’s biggest water parks, it aims to keep you busy for a whole day with is range of plunging and gentle slides, swimming pools and a lazy rubber ring river. Located near Lagoa.
