Villa Casilda is in a tranquil area of La Asomada, a few kilometres outside Puerto del Carmen. The local village has a shop for all your immediate needs, and Puerto del Carmen is brimming with shops, restaurants, bars and friendly nightlife. The nearest beach is at Puerto del Carmen old town, which also has a pretty harbour where you can still see fisherman landing their daily catches. The atmosphere here is friendly and relaxing and the cobbled streets and tapas bars provide a contrast to the more lively and cosmopolitan ‘Avenida’ area. The Avenida de las Playas is a promenade lined with hundreds of restaurants, bars and cafes, ice-cream parlours, amusement arcades and shops, running alongside the main beaches of Puerto del Carmen. The resort itself, although large, has been restricted to low rise buildings that are in keeping with the local character.

All the beaches in Puerto del Carmen have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness. The main sandy beach, the Playa Grande, is gently sloping and very popular with families and young children. Ideal for sunbathers, this beach has reasonably priced sun-loungers and parasols for hire. Further smaller rocky coves are dotted along the coastline for those seeking something more private. There are several windsurfing and diving schools in Puerto del Carmen offering equipment hire and lessons, as the coastline offers the perfect conditions for both these sports. Swimming, running and cycling are also popular in resort, with several bike hire companies along the promenade.

Shopping is excellent in and around the resort, and international chains such as Zara and Mango can be found here, offering good prices because the goods are tax-free. You will find plenty of souvenir shops on the promenade and a more upmarket selection of luxury goods and local crafts at the Biosfera shopping centre.
Also nearby is the incredible National Park of Timanfya, a 50km square area whose landscape has been shaped by past volcanic activity on the island, the most recent eruption being nearly two centuries ago. Various tours are offered in the park, including a camel ride if you are feeling adventurous, and you can enjoy a meal cooked over natural geothermal heat at the El Diablo restaurant.

Ground Floor

The spacious living accommodation of Villa Casilda has two large sofas and a television which has some satellite channels, as well as a DVD and a CD player. The room has terracotta tiles underfoot which keep the room cool in the heat of the day, and a dining table and chairs to seat four. The large kitchen has a similar size table with seating for a further four people, and comes equipped with a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a separate dining room.

The villa has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom, containing a shower and Jacuzzi, and also benefits from a walk-in wardrobe. There is a twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and two further twins which share the family bathroom with a bath/shower.

Outside

There is a large rectangular pool with ladder access and a surrounding pool terrace. The villa enjoys an elevated position and so has lovely views of the surrounding Lanzarote countryside out towards the coast. The villa comes equipped with sun-loungers and outdoor dining furniture and has a barbecue.
