The central open-plan living space features a large dining area with a large table and six chairs on one side. Whilst the other side is divided into a cosy sitting room and open-plan, modern kitchen. The sitting room is furnished with two soft sofas and a coffee table arranged either side of a central open fireplace. (This working open fire is a cosy luxury for those visiting in the cooler winter months). There is also a TV with basic satellite channels and a DVD player – handy for keeping the kids amused and out of the midday sun for half an hour. Patio doors open on to a covered section of the large sun terrace
The contemporary kitchen is fitted with white units at base and eye level, and a contrasting grey worktop with integral sink. Small white tiles line the walls and there is a washing machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, and oven with four gas ring hob.
A corridor leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms. There are three bedrooms simply furnished with twin beds, bedside cabinets and fitted wardrobes. There are two bathrooms; both are tiled and feature a toilet, washbasin and large mirror. One has a full bathtub, whilst the other has a shower cubicle.
Outside
Patio doors open from the villa onto the adjoining, covered dining terrace. Here in the shade there is a garden table and chairs, perfect for long, lazy lunches. The terracotta terrace stretches out behind the villa, enjoying open sunshine. It contains the private pool which has a free-form shape with roman-ended integral steps to lead you gradually into the water. Around the poolside are sunloungers and parasols for lazing in the warm sun. The terrace garden is bordered by white walls, and tall, leafy trees and shrubs behind. Location
Villa Clarissa is situated in a peaceful residential area of Cala’n Porter. This coastal resort is located in the district of Alaior, along Menorca’s central southern coast. There are restaurants within walking distance (500m) and the sheltered, sandy beach and plenty of shops are close by.
Cala’n Porter is large resort by Menorcan standards, situated on the south coast in a magnificent setting on the cliffs above an expansive, sandy beach. The beach offers a large shore of soft sand, sheltered on three sides by cliffs. Behind the beach is an area of marshland home to large community of ducks. There are bars and restaurants at beach level, as well as sun beds, umbrellas and pedaloes for hire.
Up at the resort, there are shops selling everything from freshly baked pastries to brightly coloured souvenirs. There is also a weekly market held in the square. You will find bars and restaurants catering for every taste; many offering magnificent views across the bay. For the ultimate clubbing experience, don't miss The Caves of Xoroi; this unique club is built into the caves overlooking the beach. With incredible sea views, the club's dance floor overlooks the ocean and stands at 100m above the water.
Transport is well-organised at Cala’n Porter and is a good destination for those who prefer not to hire a car. There us a road train which runs around the resort and down to the beach during the day. The journey to and from the airport takes about 15 minutes, and the average price of a taxi for four people would be €20. There are also regular buses into the capital Mahon.
13km away is Mahon - the historic harbour capital of Menorca. This city offers a wide range of retail outlets, bars, cafes, and restaurants. There is also lively nightlife to be enjoyed when the sun goes down, with the largest concentration of lively clubs and bars to be found near the port. For those who love live music, Mahon port also has a number of Jazz clubs. By day, this historical port bustles with ships and yachts, where you can stroll for hours admiring the view. You will also find many buildings and ruins of architectural and historic interest, plus several museums detailing the island’s long history. The oldest relic is the Arch de San Roque, the only surviving remains of the fourteenth century wall that circled the town. There are seven buses a day into Mahon from Cala’n Porter (during the summer).
From Cala’n Porter you can see Mount Toro: the highest point on Menorca at 354m. For those who are interested in seeking spiritual inspiration or simply soaking up the culture, a trip to the Sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Toro is worth a visit. Used today by a small community of nuns, the sanctuary offers a spiritual centre for Menorca and there are fantastic views across the North coast of the island, about a 45km journey.
