Villa Estrella is situated just 800m away from local shops and restaurants, and is a short drive from the beach at Cala en Bosch’s resort centre. Cala en Bosch is a lively and cosmopolitan resort offering something for everyone, from its good selection of bars, shops and restaurants to its trendy marina and sandy beach with its variety of watersports available. A mini train runs from here to the quieter neighbouring resort of Son Xoriguer where you can learn to wind surf, sail or scuba dive at its water sports centre. Teenagers will love being towed on a banana boat in the bay whilst you relax under an umbrella by the water’s edge, perhaps taking a more sedate ride on a pedalo or having a go at snorkelling in the clear blue sea. The lighthouse off the coast at Cap d’Artrutx marks the most western point of the island.
The historical capital of the island, Ciutadella, is 12 kilometres from Cala en Bosch, and is the second city of Menorca. Considered the religious and cultural capital of the island, despite Mahon now having capital city status, Ciutadella is still an interesting place to visit with a rich and colourful history. The twisting narrow alleyways of the old town, bustling streets and beautiful town square offer traditional shops, museums and a variety of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes.
The Menorcan coastline is very beautiful but the sheltered beach and water within the horseshoe-shaped cove at Cala Galdana is considered to be one of the most scenic areas on the island. The beach here is a stretch of pure-white sand and is known locally as ‘the queen of the calas.’ The cove sits in the mouth of the Algendar Gorge, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs which you can explore by boat, visiting secret beaches hidden from tourists approaching by land. The cove’s calm turquoise water is very popular with swimmers, divers and snorkellers.
The capital city of Mahon, close to the island’s airport and 60 kilometres from Villa Estrella, is built around the world’s second deepest natural harbour. The port is the heart of the city and bustles with ships and vessels, day and night. Mahon is the focal point of commerce and trading for Menorca and is steeped in history, with many interesting old buildings and museums to visit as well as a good range of shops and boutiques to browse around. The city has varied and lively evening entertainment, whether you enjoy live music or prefer quiet dining in one of the city’s many excellent restaurants. The harbour area comes alive at night and the port provides a scenic backdrop to the bars and restaurants at its edge
