Villa Fornells is a one-storey villa with steps to the garden and entrance. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is set within its own garden with a private terrace and pool.

Approach

The villa is conveniently located in a residential area very close to local amenities and a short walk from the resort’s beautiful sandy beach. This traditional low rise villa has white exterior walls, window shutters and terracotta roof tiles, and has its garden and terraces on different levels linked by steps.

Ground Floor

The villa has a comfortable and welcoming open-plan living/dining room with terracotta flooring, pine furniture and exposed ceiling beams. There is a seating area with sofas and a coffee table, a television with some satellite channels and a pine dining table with seating for six. Patio doors open to the covered dining terrace which has steps leading down to the pool garden and up to the roof terrace. There is a fully equipped kitchenette with a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave.

The bedrooms are pleasantly furnished in a simple style. There is one double room, one twin room and a bunk room which is ideal for children. The villa has two bathrooms, each with a bath and overbath shower, WC and washbasin

Outside

Patio doors open to a covered dining terrace overlooking the lawn and swimming pool, with steps leading down to the main garden area. There is a built-in barbecue to one side and a sun terrace equipped with sun-loungers. The rectangular pool has ladder steps and a paved surround bordered by an area of lawn.

Location

Villa Fornells is located in the resort of Playas de Fornells, on the beautiful northern coast of Menorca. Ideally situated for a beach villa holiday, the villa is within walking distance of a good choice of local amenities and is only 400m from the beach. This recently built resort has been developed on a hillside on the western side of a peninsula overlooking the beautiful bay of Cala Tirant. The bay has a lovely sandy beach backed by sand dunes and there is a lake and marshland area which is a haven for seabirds. The beach is popular with bathers and families and has a beach bar and pedalos, sunbeds and parasols available for hire. The Fornells area is famous for its windsurfing, and equipment can be hired here if you are feeling energetic! The highest point of the island, Mount Toro, is clearly visible on most days along with the 17th Century Sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Toro.
The sleepy fishing village of Fornells a few kilometres to the east is famous for some of the Menorca’s regional specialities such as ‘Caldereta’, a fish stew made with locally caught lobster. More lively entertainment is available further around the coast at the larger resort of Arenal d’en Castel or the island capital of Mahon. Cala Pregonda, near Fornells is a beautiful beach surrounded by pines and tamarisk trees but can be accessed only on foot, which takes around 20 minutes from Binimela. There are no facilities here so make sure you take your own refreshments. Further inland towards the centre of the island is the town of Es Mercadal which is renowned for its speciality almond biscuits.

Son Parc, around 12km away, is home to the only golf course on the island which opened the final phase of its 18-hole redevelopment in August 2006. Situated a few hundred metres from Son Parc beach, this championship quality course is suitable for both beginners and experienced players and is pleasantly wooded. Watch out for the peacocks at the third green! Son Parc beach has an expanse of white, gently shelving sand with good facilities and is ideal for families with young children.
The rugged northern coast of Menorca is perfect for exploring by car, as the coastline is dotted with sleepy fishing villages and picturesque bays. The island capital of Mahon, approximately 25 km away, is a busy and attractive port with one of the longest natural harbours in the world. The bars and restaurants edging the port come alive at night, but during the day you can explore the narrow streets and quiet shady squares of the old town, perhaps stopping for a cup of coffee at a pavement cafe as you stroll past. Ciutadella, the island’s former capital, is also easily accessible by car and offers plenty of opportunities for dining and shopping as well as some fascinating insights into the island’s colourful history.
