Villa Gracie’s spacious and comfortable accommodation is set on one level and the open plan living and dining area has tiled floors throughout. The living area has a large, comfortable corner sofa with plenty of cushions – perfect for relaxing in front of the satellite television after a long day on the golf course. Walk through an archway and you will find yourself in the dining room which has seating for six around a large rustic pine dining table. There is direct access to the terrace through French windows from the living room and sunlight flooding in through the windows gives this area a cool and airy feel. The kitchen, fitted with dark wooden units, is equipped with microwave, washing machine and dishwasher and has plenty of worktop space.

The bedrooms are simply furnished with terracotta tiled floors and pine furniture. The master bedroom opens onto the terrace and has an en suite bathroom whereas the two twin rooms each have separate bathrooms, one with a Jacuzzi bath.

Outside

Access to the garden is via steps from the pergola terrace. A pathway flanked by lawns leads to the pool which has a separate shallow section ideal for small children. Sun-loungers, dining furniture and a barbecue are provided and olive trees in the neighbouring olive grove offer some natural shade from the Mallorcan sun. There are wonderful views from the terrace across the golf course to the Mediterranean in the distance.

Location

Villa Gracie is in South East Mallorca, near the resort of Cala d’Or and a short drive from the pretty harbour town of Porto Colom. The club house of the Vall d’Or golf course, just a few minutes walk away, has a restaurant, and a further choice of shops and bars can be found at the village of S’Horta which is 3km away. Here you can also visit the ruins of Castell de Santueri which date back to the fourteenth century, or take a meandering walk across the pretty rocky hillside through a landscape of flowering shrubs, almond trees and dry stone walls.

The popular resort of Cala d’Or stretches for several kilometres along the coastline and has numerous sandy coves and creeks where you take a ride in a glass bottomed boat, hire a pedalo or simply while away the hours under a palm tree at the water’s edge. Parts of the coastline are pleasantly wooded and there are beautiful sandy beaches perfect for swimming. The busy resort centre offers a range of restaurants, bars and nightlife and you can dine in style at one of the smart restaurants on the terrace overlooking Cala d’Or’s marina. The marina itself attracts a cosmopolitan mix of yachts and cruisers and looks spectacular with its turquoise waters lit up after dark..

A little further North is Porto Colom, originally a fishing village supplying the needs of the neighbouring town of Felanitx. Fishing still plays a significant part in the local economy but the town also offers a good selection of quayside restaurants and retains much of its old fashioned charm. Feltanitx, an inland town, has narrow winding streets and interesting architecture. The Sunday morning market in the main square sells local produce and crafts such as wine, ceramics and capers known as the ‘green pearls’ of the island.

Whether you enjoy energetic activities such as horse-riding or water sports, prefer less physically demanding shopping and sightseeing, or even just want to soak up the sun by the beach or pool, this area of Mallorca has plenty to offer you.
