Villa Jules has a peaceful location in a quiet residential part of Javea, just a few minute’s drive from the Arenal beach area. There are supermarkets and restaurants within easy reach, with three restaurants within walking distance so you can enjoy a glass or two of wine with your evening meal without having to worry about driving home. The historic centre is a short drive away.

Javea (also known as Xabia) is a lovely coastal town sandwiched between the capes of San Antonio and La Nao and midway between the Spanish cities of Alicante and Valencia. Easily accessible via motorway from the airports of both cities, the area is renowned for its warm summers and mild winters and attracts holidaymakers throughout the year. Frequented by smugglers and pirates during the Middles Ages, the caves and bays along the coast are now popular with snorkellers, sunbathers and scuba divers. Granadella and La Barraca are particularly popular with snorkellers and have beach bar facilities. The region has something to appeal to everyone, from quaint traditional villages and sandy beaches to large coastal towns with excellent shopping and dining. There are a number of superb golf courses with a backdrop of rugged mountain scenery.

The Arenal area of Javea is has plenty on offer during the summer months. The bay here has a golden sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea and is edged with bars, shops and restaurants and ice cream parlours. There are plenty of water sports on offer such as sailing, fishing and water ski-ing in the port area. The area is very family-friendly has good facilities including toilets and showers. In the evenings, you can take a stroll along the promenade and watch the street artists performing, buy souvenirs at the craft stalls set up along the seafront or enjoy the live music which fills the air.

The old town has a maze of narrow streets lined with historical townhouses and beautiful squares. There is also an excellent indoor market selling fresh produce including fruit, cheeses and locally caught fish. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants here, not to mention the traditional tapas bars and art galleries – a great place to explore during the heat of the afternoon. The port area has plenty of restaurants and snack bars where you can linger with a cold drink and watch the fishermen bring in their catch.

The area has excellent golfing facilities, the nearest being the 9-hole Javea Golf course a few kilometres out of town towards Benitachell and La Sella near Denia. Javea Golf has a clubhouse and restaurant, two putting greens, tennis courts and a swimming pool with a children’s paddling area. There are also a variety of other places offering activities such as horse riding, tennis, football, basketball and bowling. Benidorm, around a 45 minute drive away, has plenty of family entertainment including a theme park and a large water park.

For those who enjoy exploring, the Montgo natural park is a beautiful mountainous area just to the north of Javea. The highest peak is 753m high and can be seen from the villa’s terraces.

Approach

The villa has a gated driveway with a garage at the front of the house. Flowering shrubs cascade over the wall bordering the steps to the main entrance whilst a pathway runs around the house to the pool garden.

Ground Floor

The villa has a warm and homely atmosphere with traditional furniture, terracotta floors and exposed ceiling beams. The air-conditioned open plan living/dining area has a dining table and chairs for six people and a light and airy seating area around a stone corner fireplace. There is a television offering a selection of satellite channels, with a DVD player and CD radio cassette. There is also a ground floor garden room which has full length windows on three sides and is furnished with a conservatory style table and chairs.

The galley kitchen has fitted white units along one wall and a large housing crockery on the other. The units are topped with a dark worktop and there is a double sink, an oven, hob, fridge/freezer and microwave. The washing machine is housed in a utility area within the garage and there is a further utility/drying area adjacent to the kitchen.

The bedrooms are simply but comfortably furnished and have tiled floors and white walls. The ground floor has one double room and one twin room which both share the use of a separate full bathroom.

First Floor

The third bedroom is situated on the first floor of the villa and has twin beds and a separate bathroom with bath, shower, WC and washbasin. Also on this floor is a sun lounge with far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside to the bay of Javea. There are stairs from the pool garden to this upper floor.

Two of the bedrooms have air conditioning whilst the third bedroom has a fan and heating available.

Outside

The villa is set in charming terraced gardens with mature trees, flowering shrubs and fruit trees. The pool has a free-form shape with integral steps at one end and also a ladder. It is surrounded by a part-walled terrace with sun-loungers set out beside the covered dining terrace. There is also a barbeque so you can make the most of the Spanish sunshine with outdoor meals beside the pool.
