Villa Olive

Enjoying a peaceful, rural setting near Lagos, Villa Olive has great views over open countryside. The village of Odiaxere is only a few minutes’ drive away (2.5km) and offers local shops, restaurants and traditional cafes. For those without a car, there is a local bus service to the village and Lagos, with a stop close to the villa.

Palmares, Penina and Boa Vista Golf are all within a short drive and you can also play tennis, go horse-riding or try a host of other interesting activities in the surrounding area. The coastline is simply stunning, with plenty of popular beaches and some quieter, hidden coves to visit, the nearest beach being 6km away. Families can enjoy a day out at Lagos Zoo which is set in lovely landscaped gardens with exotic animals and plants, or the Slide and Splash water park near Lagoa offers plenty of fun for all ages.

The ancient harbour town of Lagos, approximately 6.5km from the villa, is the third largest town in the Algarve, and was its capital between 1576 and 1756. It has some gorgeous, sandy beaches and a fabulous new marina welcoming yachts and boats sailing in from the Atlantic. Dolphin cruises, boat trips and water sports are just some of the activities on offer here or you can explore the historic town centre with its ancient churches, 17th Century forts and old defences. There is a good range of shops and markets in the town and nightlife can be pretty lively, with plenty of buzzing bars and restaurants open until late.

Accommodation

This lovely villa is only a short distance from the village, but is in a peaceful, rural setting and is perfect as a holiday retreat. The front door to the villa is set under a pergola draped with climbing plants and there is an open arch through to the pool terrace. There is plenty of space to park your car in the driveway.

Ground Floor

The downstairs rooms have pale tiled floors, plain painted walls and a light and spacious feel. The living area has a couple of sofas and armchairs gathered around a central coffee table, with a traditional fireplace in one corner and a TV with satellite channels in the other. Patio doors give direct access to the garden. There is an oval dining table and chairs, with an archway leading through to the modern, fitted kitchen. This room has limed oak units, a good range of appliances and French windows to a cobbled terrace where you can sit out under a big umbrella for a meal or drinks.

First Floor

Upstairs are two further bedrooms, one bathroom shared between the two room and a second sitting room with a small kitchenette. There is a large, walled first floor terrace with great views, which can also be access via steps from the garden.

Outside

The garden is fenced on three sides and bordered by tree-lined, small river on the fourth side. The bank of the river is protected by cork, olive and other native trees and makes a very attractive feature. There is a large pool (10m x 4.5m) surrounded by a terrace; there are sun-loungers provided which you can move into the full sun or under the dappled shade of the olive trees as you wish. There are other pretty cobbled patio areas, dining furniture and a barbecue for cooking al fresco.
