Location
The villa is situated in peaceful setting between the popular coastal towns of Denia and Javea. It has magnificent views across these areas to the sea in the distance and is within a twenty minute drive of lovely sandy beaches in both towns. There are several traditional country restaurants and tapas bars nearby and a wide choice of facilities available at Javea and Denia. La Sella Golf course is an 18-hole course just outside Denia.
The Arenal area of Javea is has plenty on offer during the summer months. The bay here has a golden sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea and is edged with bars, shops and restaurants and ice cream parlours. There are various water sports on offer such as sailing, fishing and water ski-ing in the bay. The area is very family-friendly has good facilities including toilets and showers. There are a few discos and nightclubs if you like to stay up late, or you can simply enjoy a family meal in one of the many restaurants before taking a stroll along the promenade to watch the street artists perform alongside the craft stalls selling souvenirs. There are occasional Flamenco shows taking place, and bars sometimes have live guitar music playing in the balmy evening air.
The old town of Javea has a maze of narrow streets lined with historical townhouses and beautiful squares. There is also an excellent indoor market selling fresh produce including fruit, cheeses and locally caught fish. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants here, not to mention the traditional tapas bars and art galleries – a great place to explore during the heat of the afternoon. The port area has an array of restaurants and snack bars where you can linger with a cold drink and watch the fishermen bring in their catch.
Denia is a small cosmopolitan town steeped in history and culture, with past invaders such as the Romans and Arabs having left their mark on the town’s architecture. There is a 16th century castle and archaeology museum plus an interesting toy museum. The town has lots of shops and restaurants, bustling street cafes and designer boutiques to suite all tastes, whilst the old fishermen’s quarter with its quaint whitewashed cottages takes you back in time. The busy harbour has ferries departing for Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca and Formentera – it is a three hour trip to the Balearic Islands if you fancy a day trip or even an overnight stay. The town has nearly 20km of sandy beaches stretching out along the coast on either side with the usual range of facilities and water sports available.
For those who enjoy exploring, the Montgo natural park is a beautiful mountainous area just to the north of Javea. The highest peak is 753m high and is an excellent vantage point with panoramic views of the spectacular rocky coastline. If you enjoy an active holiday, there is a variety places offering activities such as horse riding, tennis, football, basketball and bowling. Benidorm, around 40 minutes away by car, has plenty of family entertainment including the Terra Mitica theme park and a large water park. A little close to the villa, around fifteen minutes away just outside the town of Vergel, is a safari park with lots of animals to see.
