Villa Valerie is a substantial property laid out on two levels with one of the bedrooms downstairs, and the remaining four upstairs.

Approach

Villa Valerie is situated in a quiet residential street and is approached through large iron gates to a driveway where there is off street parking. The property is kept private and secluded by low stone walls, and is surrounded by hedging and mature trees.

Ground Floor

The living/dining room of Villa Valerie is kept light and airy by the patio doors which lead outside. At one end of the room are comfortable sofas grouped around the room’s fireplace, which is ideal for the cooler months, and the room’s television, which has some satellite channels. The room has a tiled floor and pale décor which keeps the room cool, and a dining table with eight chairs. The kitchen is large enough for a breakfast table and chairs, useful for feeding children in the early mornings. It has base and eye level wooden units and comes fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.

Also on this level is one of the villa’s twin bedrooms. It has the use of the separate bathroom which has a bath, over-bath shower, wc, washbasin and bidet.

First Floor

Upstairs are the rest of the villa’s bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a double bed, and its own en suite bathroom, along with doors onto the balcony with its pretty views of the garden. There are three further bedrooms, two of which also have doors which open onto the balcony, and all these bedrooms share the other separate bathroom.

Outside

Outside there is a rectangular pool with a Roman end which is set in tiled sun terraces with several sun loungers and parasols for you to enjoy the poolside. There is a barbecue for dining al fresco in the warm summer evenings, and the villa has ample outdoor dining furniture beneath the large covered terrace. The gardens are mature and well stocked with established shrubs and mature trees providing areas of dappled shade. The pool area is kept private by a whitewashed wall backed by fencing. The house is surrounded by tiled terraces and has covered areas to hide in the cool of the shade framed by terracotta pots filled with pretty flowers.

Location

Villa Valerie is located in the small coastal hamlet of Sa Rapita, which has a selection of local restaurants and shops to choose from. It is within a few minutes drive of one of the island’s prettiest beaches – Es Trenc is a nature reserve and 4km stretch of fine white sand and clear blue sea.

For a wider selection of restaurants and shops, Campos is 12km inland, and boasts the best patisserie in Majorca.

Colina de Sant Jordi is 10km away and has pleasant harbour side restaurants.The beach of Sa Platja des Port is located next to the marina and fishing port, and has excellent facilities. On either side of the town are fabulous beaches such as Ets Estanys, Es Trenc, Es Dolc and Es Carbo. At 9.30am every day a small ferry takes the short trip to the island of Cabrera (Goat Island). This tiny rocky island measures 4 x 3 miles and was designated a National Park in 1991. As a result there is absolutely no development there, not even a restaurant to grab a little lunch, but the island does have a colourful history. Once a haven for pirates, it served as a prisoner of war camp during the Napoleonic Wars.

An unpretentious little town a ten minute drive from the coast, Felanitx is best known for its ceramics, capers and locally produced wine. The local market is held in the town square next to a 13th Century church, and you can buy many of these traditional items here on a Sunday morning. Take a drive 10 minute to the coast and you will find yourself in Cala d’or. On the top of the hill you can see the fortress and castle which played an important role in Arab resistence
