Approach

Vivenda Luz is the perfect getaway for a large family gathering or celebration with friends, with spacious accommodation in splendid surroundings. The villa is approached by a driveway with ample parking and pretty flowering plants.

Ground Floor

The main door opens into a grand marble entrance hall, which leads into the living room. This room is large and spacious, with a white tiled floor and pale walls to keep the room light and airy even in the heat of the day. There are two comfortable sofas and two armchairs gathered around a pretty fireplace with wood burning stove and tapered white chimney breast. A built in ledge houses a television, which has satellite channels, as well as a DVD player. This is a great room to come into out of the heat of the day, or a place to curl up with a book in the evenings. For the more energetic, the room houses a pool table. Through a large archway, there is a separate bar, complete with bar stools, f or those who wish to enjoy a sociable pre-dinner drink. Through the other alcove leading from the living room, is the dining room, which has a large dark wood table with seating for eight people.

The kitchen is a large room with light wood base and eye level units, and a breakfast table and chairs. The kitchen comes fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave, along with a separate utility room housing the washing machine.

On this level there is also a double bedroom which has its own en-suite shower room complete with shower, wash basin and toilet. There is a further shower room on this level.

First Floor

Up the stairs, from the entrance hall are the remaining bedrooms of the house. The master bedroom has two double beds, ambient lighting and an en-suite bathroom. Two further rooms have double beds, ample wardrobe space, and share the separate bathroom which has a bath, wash basin and toilet. The twin room has wooden beds and a wooden built-in wardrobe and the use of a separate shower room. There is a sitting room on this level for extra seating and to occasion a little extra space for those wishing to be independent. All the bedrooms in the main house have a lovely feature – they all open onto the splendid arched terrace which overlooks the pool. All the bedrooms also have wall-mounted televisions, so there will be little argument over the remote control!

Outside

Separate Annexes:

The two annexes both have two bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with twin beds, and a shower room to share. The living space is an open plan living room/kitchenette, with a sofa and coffee table at one end, then kitchen units and a table and four chairs at the other. These annexes can be reached via the garden or down steps from the living room of the main house.

Outside

Vivenda Luz has extensive landscaped grounds with manicured green lawns and established plants and mature palm trees. The lawn surrounds a large rectangular pool with a Roman end and integral steps, and there are several sun-loungers to bathe in the warm sunshine, or parasols for those who prefer a little shade. There is a delightful dining pergola and barbecue area which is perfect for enjoying a chilled glass of wine in the evening, or for noisy family meals. The garden also has a beautiful outlook. Standing on the arched terrace, and overlooking the pool, the countryside falls away in a patchwork of striped citrus orchards and olive and almond groves. The villa is best accessed by car, which provides the freedom you would expect, but if you would enjoy a local adventure, a local railway runs some 200m from the house. The nearest station is Poco Barreto.

Location

Vivenda Luz is conveniently located between Algoz and the historic town of Silves, only a 15 minute drive from Albufeira. It is conveniently located within 800m of the local shop, perfect to pop out for fresh bread in the morning, or when you’ve run out of milk. The closest restaurant to the villa is a short 800m walk by the train station, and the nearest beach is 13kms away at Armacao de Pera.
The delightful little town of Algoz takes its name from the Arabic word ‘Al-Guzz’ which was an Asian warrior tribe which settled there in the 12th century. Originally a farming community, nowadays the town focuses on the manufacture of ceramic products, which can be found in all the local shops and potteries. One of Algoz’s two churches is a national monument – the Church of Our Lady of Pilar, which is located on the top of a hill overlooking the picturesque countryside which surrounds the town. There are several good yet inexpensive restaurants in the town, along with several bars which are frequented by local and travellers alike. There is also a market which is open six days a week, which sells fresh local produce as good prices. Once a month, there is a larger market which sells everything from linens to good quality leather goods, to antiques.

A little further a-field is the lively and bubbling resort of Albufeira, which was an original fishing port that has bloomed into a thriving holiday destination which is popular with all ages. The town is filled with international restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs and pubs which throw out music into the night air, in a gentle hum of activity. During the day, there are many activities to take advantage of, many centred on the town’s beautiful beaches. Miles of fine white sand bless the shores here, along with clean clear water. There are fourteen beaches and coves to choose from, along with several beach activities and water sports. Galé beach has a wide variety of tourist facilities and snack bars. In the direction of Albufeira are two smaller beaches that are quieter and less visited. Castelo Beach and São Rafael are picturesque coves protected by stunning rock formations of great natural beauty. One of Albufeira’s nicest beaches; Praia dos Pescadores or ‘fishermens’ beach is so named because of the little colourful fishing boats that line the shore here.

Alternatively there is the newly finished marina at the west of the resort to explore, with its dazzling array of white yachts, or perhaps take a stroll around the old town with its winding cobbled streets and white-washed houses. There are also a number of other sporting and leisure activities on hand.

Those with children will appreciate the Slide and Splash water park with pools Jacuzzis, slides and rapids. There are grassy areas for sunbathing and picnicking, and because the complex is so large, it never seems to get crowded. Located just to the north of town – follow the signs on the EN125.
