Guide to South West Menorca Self Catering Holidays

The South West of Menorca has one of the most beautiful shorelines in the Mediterranean. Our holiday villas are close to long white sandy beaches and little idyllic coves, perfect places to enjoy the clear blue sea. Pretty whitewashed villages sit in rolling green countryside amid historic monuments. The historic former capital Ciutadella is close by its narrow cobbled streets and quaint old town charm.

Cala Galdana is known as ‘Queen of the Calas’ because of its sweeping horseshoe bay, clear turquoise water, towering cliffs and dense pine trees. Our villas in Cala en Blanes, Cala Blanca and Cala en Bosch are situated close to equally splendid beaches with good facilities including boat trips, mini golf, water sports, tennis courts, scuba diving and cycling. The water is shallow and sand gently shelves into clean blue water, many beaches in this area have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness.

A wide choice of beachside and resort restaurants and bars make eating out a pleasure, and the friendly Menorcans welcome children. The island’s former capital, Ciutadella is only a short drive from our villas in Menorca and is a delightful coastal town with more extensive shopping, a livelier nightlife and attractive old town.

Visit the craft market on a Friday or Saturday and pick up a souvenir from your trip and take in the cathedral, palaces and narrow alleys. Or choose from a variety of excellent fish restaurants around the harbour promenade and dine on Caldereta de Langost, a rich seafood stew made with spiny lobster, or lechona asada, roast suckling pig. Finish with pudin a Menorcan version of crème caramel and herbas dulces a delicious local liqueur made from aniseed and herbs
