Guide to Callao Salvaje

At a glance

Callao Salvaje is a small coastal town about 12km north of the bright lights of Playa de las Americas on the west coast of Tenerife. One of the island’s newest holiday destinations, Callao Salvaje was originally a small village that has blossomed into a growing resort.

The centre has several Spar type supermarkets selling UK branded goods in recognition of the high numbers of British travellers who visit each year. There are, shops, car hire, banks and a pharmacy for your convenience. Along the shoreline is a parade of good quality, reasonably priced restaurants with a selection of different types of cuisine on offer.

The main beach is a rocky cove, but for those seeking the wide beaches and facilities of an established resort, Playa de las Americas is only a 10 minute drive away. Closer still, at Fañabe, are further stunning beaches, and plans are in progress to improve the beach at Callao Salvaje in the near future.

Callao Salvaje is ideally situated for those seeking a relaxing villa holiday in the sun, but is within easy reach of the island’s main town, for those who wish to dip in and out of the action. If you wish to tour the island, Callao Salvaje is close to the motorway system that makes getting around the island easy, whether you are heading north to the Tiede National park, or towards the busy resorts of the south. The nearest golf course is a 5 minute drive away, at Costa Adeje, an upmarket resort. If you don’t drive, there are several taxis and buses on the island linked to Callao Salvaje, which will transport you all over the island.
